Quebec s Anglophone Population In 2011, there were 1,050,000 Anglophones* in Quebec, accounting for 13.5% of Quebec s total population. Two regions of Quebec accounted for 87% (911,000 persons) of the English-speaking population. Montreal CMA: 80.8%, 845,000 Anglophones Outaouais Region: 6,3%, 65,615 Anglophones Note: Half of the Anglophones with English and French as first official language were included in the Anglophone group. 2

Quebec s Immigrant Anglophone Population There are 350,000 Anglophone* immigrants in Quebec, accounting for 4.6% of Quebec s total population. The Montréal CMA accounts for 92% (323,000 persons) of Quebec s English-speaking immigrant population. The Outaouais Region: 3,5%, with 12,000 immigrant Anglophones Rest of Québec: 4,6%, with16,000 immigrant Anglophones * Note: Half of the immigrants with English and French as first official language swere included in the Anglophone immigrant group. 4

In the province of Quebec, one-third of Anglophones were born outside Canada. In Montréal, that proportion is higher: 4 out of 10 Anglophones are immigrants. Highest proportion of Anglophone immigrants: Côte-St-Luc (26.6%), Dollard-des-Ormeaux (26.1%), Côte-des-Neiges (25.9%), Rivière des Prairies/Pointe aux Trembles (23,0%) and Saint-Léonard (22.0%). Diversity within the Anglophone immigrant population 10

Four out of ten Anglophone immigrants were born in Asia and the Pacific and close to one third were born in Europe. With the exception of China, Italy and Lebanon, the top 10 countries of birth of immigrants with English as a first official language and of those with English and French as first official languages are not the same. Among Anglophone immigrants, 55% are part of a visible minority group while that proportion is of 18% among Anglophones born in Canada. Among immigrants it is in the recent immigrant group that we find the highest proportion of immigrants with French as a first official language. More than half (54.4%) of Anglophone immigrants have a knowledge of both English and French whereas close to three quarters (73.9%) of non-immigrant Anglophones can hold a conversation in that language. Note: Half of the immigrants with English and French as first official languages were included in the mmigrant Anglophone igroup. Half of the non-immigrants with English and French as first official languages were included in the non-immigrant Anglophone group. 16

Highest level of Education Attained 17

The proportion of persons that have no certificate, diploma or degree or only hold a high school diploma is lower among Anglophone immigrants (39.1%) than among non-immigrant Anglophones (44.5%) and among Quebec s population as a whole (43.9%). Immigrant Anglophones are more likely to have a university certificate or diploma at the bachelor level or above (32%) than non-immigrant Anglophones (23%) and the province s entire population (19%). Employment Characteristics 20
