NAOMH BARROG GAA CLUB PAN-EUROPEAN FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT JULY 11 TH, 2015 PARTICIPATING CLUBS: MADRID HARPS GAA BRUSSELS GAA BALYNA GAA, CO.KILDARE ROBERT EMMETS GAA, CO.DONEGAL NAOMH MARTIN GFC, CO.LOUTH CLG BEANN EADAIR, CO.DUBLIN RAHENY GAA, CO.DUBLIN NAOMH BARRÓG GAA, CO.DUBLIN

ABOUT NAOMH BARROG Naomh Barróg was founded in 1974 to cater for the sporting, social and cultural development of the young people of Kilbarrack. In subsequent years we expanded to the areas of Bayside & Sutton. From our initial 4 teams in the 1970 s the Club now fields 40 teams at juvenile level and 8 teams at adult level. Naomh Barróg places equal emphasis on the development of both Gaelic football & hurling. Our top football team competes in Division 2 of the Dublin Adult Football League and our top hurling team competes in Division 3 of the Dublin Adult Hurling League. The Club opened its ground, Páirc Bharróg in 1984, ten years after its foundation. The development continued over the years and the Club reached another milestone in its short history when our fine Clubhouse was opened in 2001 and our excellent All Weather Pitch two years later in 2003. We currently have over 1000 members. We proudly celebrated our 40th anniversary in 2014. Naomh Barróg GAA Club would like to welcome all participants and wish you all the best in today s sport. ABOUT OUR VISITORS Brussels GAA The Club has been in existence since the 1980 s when it originally consisted of senior players who wished to play football in Brussels. Since 1999the Club has specialised in training of boys and girls of all nationalities living in Brusselswho wished to learn and play Gaelic football. A number of people were involved in the beginning in coaching the boys & girls and building a team. Notable among these were John Ludden, Gerry McGovern, Mick Nevin, Cathal Lynch, Ann Carroll and Liam Breslin. Starting in 2000 the Club sent teams to compete in Féile Peil na N Óg which was a real stimulus to the boys & girls. We have sent teams to Féile in Dublin, Galway, Tyrone, Tipperary, Carlow and Limerick and have developed longstanding links with the host clubs. We have had many visits from clubs in Ireland over the years -Donaghmore, Ashbourne; Michael Glaveys, Roscommon; Killenaule, Tipperary; Kilteely, Limerick. In summer 2009 we hosted a visit from Fingal Ravens in Co Dublin. We continue with training of about 60 boys & girls every year who are all keen to come along & learn to play. Our current stalwarts in the club are Caoimhe Ní Shúilleabháin, Una Shortall, Mark Cunningham, Aidan & Jenny Grimes and Liam Breslin. Madrid Harps GAA (Spain) Madrid Harps GAA Club was founded in 2004. Its Juvenile section was created in 2010. The club promotes Gaelic football and hurling throughout Madrid. Membership is diverse with a mix of Spanish, Irish and Spanish children of Irish origin aged between 3 and 15. With training held on a weekly basis, the club serves as an easily accessible and family oriented platform for Spanish families to savour Irish culture at first hand, while simultaneously enabling children of Irish families living in Madrid to maintain a cultural link with Ireland. The club competes in both domestic and international GAA tournaments. In April 2014 we travelled to our first international tournament in Liffré, France and hosted Iberia s first international juvenile tournament in October 2014. Over 150 children attended the event from 7 clubs in Ireland, Spain and Belgium. In October this year we will

host 2 separate international tournaments with approximately 15 clubs and up to 500 children from Ireland, Belgium, Spain, England and Scotland coming to Madrid to participate. At the start of 2015 the club was awarded a GAA and Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade sponsored grant in recognition of its grass root development plan. Central to this plan is the creation of a Madrid Juvenile Mini League. Games for children aged between 8 and 15 will commence this Autumn. The league will include games in Seville, Valencia, Galicia and Marbella and regular matches in Madrid fostering the promotion of Irish culture. Balyna GAA (Kildare) Balyna Juvenile Gaelic Football Club was founded in 1974.It is an amalgamation of the juvenile players from the two clubs in the area Johnstownbridge GFC and Clogherinkoe GFC. The club caters for juvenile footballers from the parish of Balyna in North Kildare and surrounding areas. Children from 3 to 6 years of age enjoy our ABC Nursery and the club fields teams from under 7 up to and including Minor. Teams are entered in competitions organised by North Board and BordnanÓgCillDara. The club has won Leagues and Championships at various divisions over the years and proudly participated in FéilePeilnanÓg in 2006, 2009 and 2011. Robert Emmets GAA (Donegal) The GAA club in CastlefinnCo.Donegal has had a few names. The club started out as Con Culberts in 1918 and by 1922 there were two teams St.Mary's and Emmets. It was an amalgamation of both of these that won our first and only Senior Championship in 1922. We won the Donegal Junior Championship in 1945, 1951 & 1953. The club changed their name in 1955 to today s Robert Emmets. With new optimism the club won the League and Junior Championship Finals in 1956 beating Bundoran in both. We won the Junior Championship again in 1987 and the Junior League in 2008. We currently play in Division 4 of the County League and with the scourge of emigration it is most likely we could be there for a couple more years. Our county players of note are Raymond Bryson, Andy Curran and Sandy Harper. A lot of work has gone into restructuring our underage over the last five years.currently all our club underage coaches have either gained level one or level two coaching badges. At all times the children are encouraged to play ''football'' and we hope you will witness this today. We are currently County U14 Division 2 Champions and we are competitive in all age groups from 15s down. It is hoped that we can carry this on and climb the leagues and hopefully provide players to represent Donegal on the playing field. Naomh Martin GFC (Louth) Naomh Martin GFC is located in county Louth between Dundalk and Drogheda in the historical village of Monasterboice. It plays its senior football in division 1 of the Louth league and championship. The club has been in the top flight of football in the county since the 1960s.The juvenile section caters for 300 kids from the parish, with the nursery from age 5 up to minor. We have 2 teams competing in most of the underage leagues mainly made up from 2 schools in the area, Fieldstown NS and Tenure NS.The most famous players from the club are JP Rooney, Nicky mc Donnell, Mick Fanning all who have played for the county and still play in the first team. CLG Beann Éadair (Dublin) Beann Éadair GAA from Howth Co.Dublin are one of the oldest GAA clubs in Ireland having been founded in 1885. It currently fields 2 adult teams and 14 underage teams in football and hurling. They wone the Dublin Junior Football Championship in 1974. Their home grounds Páirc Uí Ruairc is one of the most beaufifully situated GAA grounds in the country with views over Dublin Bay, Ireland s Eye and Lambay Island. It is currently undergoing a substantial redevelopment and improvement. Raheny GAA (Dublin) Raheny GAA club was established in 1958. The club was very successful straight away, winning Junior & Intermediate Leagues and Championships during the 1960's. They went on to win the Division 1 Senior League in 1970 and were runners-up in the County Senior Football Final in 1970. The club contributed significantly to the "Dubs of the 70's" who won three All-Irelands. David Hickey, Michael Hickey, Paddy Gogarty and Alan Larkin did Raheny proud during this era. David Hickey won an All-Star during this period. Raheny GAA is currently fielding over 50 teams across Camogie, Gaelic Football, Hurling& Ladies Football. Our recent adult inter-county players of note include Ciaran Whelan and David Henry. The club play our home games from St.Anne s Park. Our new skills wall and astro turf pitch with floodlighting was opened in September 2007.
