Eight (8) teams in each age division. Four (4) teams in each bracket cross over and play 4 round-robin games Top two (2) in each group advance to Semi-Finals and Championship Consolation Game for 5 th, 6 th, 7 th and 8 th place finishers. TOURNAMENT OUTLINE for 2000 s Seven (7) teams in the division. Each team will play all other teams for 6 total games. Championship team will be determined by most points (2 win, 1 tie, 0 loss) after all games are completed. STOCKHOLM INFORMATION Stockholm has long been considered the most beautiful capital city in Europe because of its architecture, museums and its waterways. Stockholm is the largest city in Sweden and is sometimes referred to as Venice of the North. Stockholm is the second most visited city in all of the Nordic countries. VASA MUSEUM On August 10, 1628 Vasa set sail on her maiden voyage and sank in Stockholm harbour. The wreck was salvaged in 1961 after 333 years under the sea. The reconstructed vessel, 95% original, is splendidly adorned with hundreds of carved sculptures. We will have a guided tour around the ship and listen to the Vasa's history - the king, construction, maiden voyage, sinking, salvage, preservation, and much more. The guided tour around the ship is about 25 minutes long and is included in our package.
BOAT TOUR We will pass many of the city s sights as we slide by the different parts of Stockholm. From the water we will see the inner city, the Old Town, the islands Södermalm, Lilla and Stora Essingen. This boat tour is a perfect sightseeing trip of Stockholm. Everyone will get a feel for the islands making Stockholm such a beauty on water. OLD TOWN This part of the city is considered to be the heart of Stockholm. It was founded in the 13th century and today it consists mainly of 17th century buildings. It is a charming part of Stockholm with lots of restaurants, galleries, coffee shops and narrow alleys to explore. If you have an interest in the monarchy this is where you will find the Royal Palace (see below) and the Treasury. In the Old Town you will also find plenty of beautiful churches well worth a visit. ROYAL PALACE
This is one of Europe s largest and most dynamic places. Here you will find, the Royal Family s official residence, the Treasury with the regalia, the Tre Kronor museum that portrays the palaces medieval history and also the changing of the guards. CLIMATE We will need to be prepared for a range of temperatures which should be somewhere in the 65-80 degree range and similar to Chicago late June conditions. LANGUAGE The official language is Swedish. Fortunately, for us as visitors most of them can speak English very well. Hotel receptionists and restaurant servers almost invariably speak English excellently. CURRENCY The Kroner is the official currency and is fully convertible and changing US dollars into their currency is no problem at all local banks and at the airport. Using a credit card can limit or even remove the need to carry large currency or traveler checks. Not only can you pay for many goods and services by card, but you can use them to get cash advances at most banks and ATM's. PASSPORTS All players and family members will need US passports for travel and this process should be started immediately. ELECTRICITY The current used is 220 V/50 HZ Ac Sockets are the round two pin type which are standard through most of continental Europe.
