To introduce the theme, each year group will study a book that has been made into a movie: starting on Thursday 15 th with a special cinema, hotdog lunch, pupils will use the movies to inspire their writing on Friday 16 th January. Year 6 Practice SATs Week Tests for Years 3, 4 and 5 Year 6 SATs Meeting This is a meeting for Year 6 parents and carers to discuss the tests that take place week commencing 11 th May 2015. No holidays will be authorised for Year 6 pupils from January until the end of May. Year 1 Parents Reading Workshop Parents will be invited into their child s classroom at the end of the school day to learn more about the school s reading schemes and how they can support their child at home. Reception Parents Language Development Workshop Reception parents will be invited to a parent workshop run by an external language development specialist. More information to be provided closer to the date. The dates and times are correct at the time of publication. They may change due to unforeseen circumstances, although we plan carefully to ensure this does not happen unnecessarily. Parents are informed of the changes as soon as possible via the school web-site, newsletters and text messaging service

Parents will be notified when the online booking system is open to make their appointments. Safer Internet Day Safer Internet Day 2015 will be celebrated globally on Tuesday 10th February with the theme Let s create a better internet together. Children will have assemblies on this theme, with activities planned throughout the day. Half Term Year 6 Booster School Selected pupils in year 6 will be invited to extra tuition sessions during the half term break. Details of these sessions will be provided to those selected. Writing Week To tie in with World Book Day on Thursday 5 th March, children will be focusing in on writing with special activities planned throughout the week. Reception and Nursery Shared Learning Sessions Parents will be invited to attend school with their children. More information will be published to parents closer to the date. Year 1 Parents Maths Workshop Parents will be invited into their child s classroom at the end of the school day to learn more about the way Maths is taught in school and how they can support their child at home. Religious Education Week RE week is an opportunity for children to learn about what other people believe and discuss their own beliefs based on the themes that might arise from the Christian feast of Easter. Easter Year 6 Booster School Selected pupils in year 6 will be invited to extra tuition sessions during the Easter break. Details of these sessions will be provided to those selected. If you applied online, you can view the result of your offer online from the evening of Monday 2 March 2015 (after 5pm). If you submitted a paper application, your offer will be posted on the 2 March 2015. Parent Council Meeting All parents and carers are welcome. Red Nose Day Pupils will be raising funds for Comic Relief: a major charity dedicated to eradicating poverty worldwide. School Photographer The school photographer will be taking individual and family photos. Please ensure your child/children attend school in full school uniform on this day. 12.30pm Junior Citizens Hillingdon Primary will be participating in the Junior Citizens : more details to be published closer to the date. Other Important s / Dates continued Wednesday 25 th March 2pm: KS1 & KS2 Pupils 6.15pm: Parents, families & friends Musical Soiree The Musical Soiree is an end of term concert celebrating extra-curricular music: it is a platform for those who participate in music clubs and / or have done exceptional music work in class or outside of school to show what they have been doing and to have the opportunity to perform at a high standard to a large audience. Families and friends are most welcome to attend the 6:15pm performance: ticketing details will be made available closer to the date. Please do come and support our musicians - thank you! Music Club Details The full programme of music clubs start on Monday 19 January, excluding Senior Choir which will resume on Monday 26 January.. Every Monday String Ensemble This is to extend pupils who have violin lessons and provide them with vital ensemble experience. Year 6 Ukulele Orchestra There are 12 instruments available per year 6 class which pupils will have the opportunity to sign up for on a first come, first served basis, with priority being given to those not already in a music club. In addition, there are places for a further 6 pupils in year 6 who have their own instruments to attend (please contact Mrs Bryant via the Reception desk for further information). Ukuleles are available to purchase starting at around 25 from all good music shops. Years 3 and 4 Gifted and Talented Recorder Ensemble Pupils are selected to join the recorder ensemble following assessment of their performance during music lessons. Key Stage 1 Choir Open to all pupils in years 1 and 2 Singing Gifted and Talented Exam Group Pupils demonstrating exceptional ability in choir last term have been selected for the Gifted and Talented Exam Group. Year 6 Beatboxing Pupils are selected to join the beatboxing club following assessment of their performance during music lessons. Year 5 Handbells Pupils demonstrating significant musicianship and commitment are selected to join the handbells club following assessment of their performance during music lessons. Page 4 of 5
