Remote Control features The remote control makes it easy for you to access all your favorite programs and movies. You ll discover how simple it is to control your entertainment experience! Setting your devices Setup Method A 1 Press and hold SETUP until the LED blinks twice using your Remote Control. SETUP 2 Press the mode key for device you wish to setup. The mode key stays lit. TV DVD AUX 3 Find your device and brand (from the charts below) and note the number key assigned to your brand. Press and hold the number key for your device/brand. 4 Release the key when your device turns off. Setup for that device is complete. 2 BLINKS = SUCCESS 1 LONG BLINK = FAILURE 1 4 7 2 5 8 0 3 6 9 Setup Method B 1 Press the mode key for device you wish to setup. TV DVD AUX 2 Press and hold SETUP until the LED blinks twice. SETUP 3 Enter the 1st code for your brand from the code list. (See below for codes.) 1 4 7 2 5 8 0 3 6 9 4 5 Press POWER key to test with your device. If the device turns off, setup is complete. If device does not turn off, repeat SETUP METHOD B using the next code for your brand. Setup Method C 1 Press and hold SETUP until the LED blinks twice. 2 Press the mode key for device you wish to setup. The mode key stays lit. 3 Press and hold the OK key. 4 Release the OK key when your device turns off. Let s get started! Choose your channel guide style 1. Turn on your TV. 2. Press MENU at the top of your WhidbeyTV remote control. Use the arrows to select Settings, then select Television. Scroll down with arrow to select Guide Style. Press OK. 3. Use right arrow to select either Grid Guide or Channel Lineup format as your guide style. Press OK. Use left arrow and select SAVE. Changing the audio quality To choose between Stereo or Surround Sound, press the MENU button. 1. Press the arrow button to select Settings, then select Audio and press OK. Select Digital Audio Output and choose your sound quality. Select Save, press OK. Select channels using the Guide 1. Press GUIDE button to access list of available channels. 2. View info about programs by pressing INFO button. 3. Use arrows to scroll up or down through individual channels. 4. Use channel button (+ or -) to advance through channel menu a page at a time. Select your settings Create your list of Favorite channels A convenient way to view and filter the Guide with just the channels you most often watch. 1. Press the C button (red) on your WhidbeyTV remote control and select Set up favorite channels list. 2. Scroll through the channel list. Press OK to add or remove channels from your Favorites guide. 3. To save your Favorite channels, press the left arrow button then select Save. 4. Press the C button at any time to view and choose your Favorite channels. Change your Favorites list 1. Press MENU. Use right arrow to select Settings. Select Television and press OK. Select Set up Favorites, press OK. 2. Use arrow buttons to add or remove channels. 3. Rename a Favorite List by pressing the ENTER (ZOOM) button on your remote. FUN TIP! At any time, you can use ENTER (ZOOM) to select different Aspect ratios to zoom in and out to fill your screen on SD channels. This will change the ratio on all channels and affect the viewing area of HD channels. WhidbeyTV User Guide 5
Navigate onscreen menus Access options for any channel When scrolling through channels on the Guide or your Favorites list, you may choose to record the program or view program details. 1. Press the INFO button on your WhidbeyTV remote control to select Watch, Record Program, or More Showtimes. You can also access Program Info on your Favorites list. 1. While in Favorites or Guide, press INFO. Use arrow to select Summary or Cast & Crew. FUN TIP! While viewing any channel, you may use the RIGHT ARROW to view upcoming programs on that channel. Also, use the UP AND DOWN ARROWS for a live view of what s currently showing on other channels. View details for each channel Find the scheduled programs for each hour of the day. 1. Press GUIDE on your WhidbeyTV remote control to view list of programs. Press left arrow, then choose channels using the up and down arrows. NOTE: Use the left and right arrow to view program lists for upcoming shows on that channel. WhidbeyTV User Guide 6
Record live TV Record what you are watching 1. Press RECORD to begin immediately recording the current program. This feature is not available with Video On Demand or Pay Per View. 2. The message Recording will appear onscreen and the red LED will light up on the Set Top Box (STB) until recording ends. 3. Recording will stop at the program s scheduled end time. Press STOP to end the recording at any time. Press OK to confirm. NOTE: WhidbeyTV subscribers have a 2HD and 1SD stream allowance. These can be used to watch channels or record channels in any combination so long as they don t exceed 2HD/1SD. Determine recording time left on DVR Check how much remaining DVR recording space is available. 1. Press MENU. Select Settings, then select General. Press OK. 2. Use the arrows to select System Information. View the percentage of Disk Usage remaining at the bottom of the list. Delete recorded shows from My Videos to allow more space for future DVR recordings. FUN TIP! Record up to 355 hours of SD video and 88 hours of HD video. WhidbeyTV User Guide 7
Schedule to record a program or series Manage the DVR to save and delete recordings of your favorite programs or movies shown on TV 1. Press the RECORDED TV button on your WhidbeyTV remote control. Use right arrow to select Add Recording. Press OK. 2. Record program or series from either the Guide or Search alphabetically. 3. Highlight a program, then press RECORD. A red dot will show up in the Guide screen indicating the program to be recorded. 4. To record a Series, press the RECORD button again. You will see a series of 3 red dots indicating the series will be recorded. You can also highlight the program, press INFO. Select Watch, Record Program, Record Series, or view More Showtimes. Press OK. 5. While the program is selected, pressing the RECORD button a third time will cancel the recording. Delete or cancel DVR recordings Change the programs or series scheduled for recording. 1. Press RECORDED TV button. Use arrow to select Scheduled, press OK. 2. Highlight the program to change, press OK. 3. Select Cancel Series, Change Settings, or Erase Recordings, press OK. FUN TIP! Delete any program recorded when highlighted by simply pressing the DELETE button on the bottom left of your remote control. WhidbeyTV User Guide 8
Watch videos or movies anytime! There s a video store in your living room! Along with an awesome channel lineup that includes sports, premium movies, and international & local programs, your WhidbeyTV service provides an extensive Video On Demand (VOD) library. 1. Press On Demand. Use the browse arrows to choose Movies, Events or Subscriptions. Press OK. FUN TIP! You can stop and start or replay the video for the time period shown on the rental screen. Press On Demand and use arrow down button to select My Videos to replay your movie rental. 2. Use the arrows to select On Demand rentals. Press OK to Rent. Use the right arrow button and press OK to view video Preview or Add to saved videos. 3. Use the up arrow to review details including movie or event Summary, Cast & Crew or more similar videos. 4. When you have selected the Video On Demand you want to rent, view the rental fee and enter your PIN. Press OK. NOTE: The default PIN is 0000. You can set a new PIN in Parental Controls. FUN TIP! Many videos can be rented in either SD and/or HD! WhidbeyTV User Guide 9
Change your menu view of VOD (On Demand) Find Events, Movies and Video Subscriptions Change the menu view to locate free and rental videos. 1. Press ON DEMAND. Use the browse arrows to choose All VOD (Video On Demand). Press OK. 2. Choose DISPLAY STYLE near the bottom of the left column. Use the arrow buttons to select either the GRID VIEW or LIST VIEW. Press OK. 3. Use the arrows to select Events, Free Movies, On Demand, HD, Movies or Premium Channels. Press OK to choose videos by category. NOTE: In the Movies section, you can sort different categories including Just In, New Releases, and Box Office Previews. WhidbeyTV User Guide 10
Control who watches TV Add parental locking for safety You can make specific channels and types of programming accessible only with a Personal Identification Number (PIN) you create. 1. Press MENU. Use the browse arrows to select Settings, then select Parental locking. Press OK. 2. Enter or create your PIN. 3. Use the arrows to select and change settings to lock specific channels and On Demand video rentals. Press OK to lock channels and video rentals. 4. Press EXIT TO TV to return to live TV. Remove or reset locking WhidbeyTV subscribers can remove all PINs (even the default 0000 for VOD) by selecting Turn Off Locking in the Parental Controls. 1. Press MENU on your remote control. Select Settings, then Parental Controls. Press OK. 2. Select Turn Off Locking, press OK. Choose Unlock all TV for 4 hours or Reset Parental Locks. Add Closed captioning 1. Press MENU. Use the browse arrows to select Televison, then select Closed captioning. Press OK. 2. Select Closed Captioning ON. Use the left browse arrow to select Done. Press OK. 3. Press EXIT TO TV to return to live TV. WhidbeyTV User Guide 11
Record TV remotely from any Internet connection Use a computer to set your DVR while away from home It s easy to create remote access to change your TV program recordings. 1. In order to manage your DVR remotely, you ll need your WhidbeyTV Subscriber ID. Your Subscriber ID can be found at the top right portion of your bill (see example). To access a PDF of your most recent bill, go to whidbey.com and select My Account at the top right side of the web site to log into your ebill account. 2. To schedule recordings and manage existing recordings, go to mydvr.whidbey.com and select Create Account. After creating your account, you ll receive a confirmation email to the address you used to sign up. Click the confirmation link and log in. You re ready to start managing your DVR remotely. 3. Just like on your TV s guide, use the list of programs to schedule or change the DVR (Digital Video Recorder). View your schedule, previous recordings and set your DVR to record a future program. NOTE: Remote viewing of recorded DVR content is unavailable at this time. We are looking into adding this feature and will provide more information as it becomes available. WhidbeyTV User Guide 12
Remotely manage DVR from smart devices Set your home DVR from anywhere in the world Make sure you have already set up your remote user name and password. (See previous page) 1. Navigate to mydvr.whidbey.com with your Internet connected phone or tablet. Enter your Username and Password and select Submit. 2. Scroll through the channels or search for a program title. Choose the program and the time you want the DVR to record. 3. Just like on your TV s guide, use the list of programs to schedule or change the DVR.
