The Vis Moot is also about meeting students, coaches and arbitrators from around the world, to exchange ideas and to make new friends. Come and enjoy a few quiet ales or a glass of wine and try to get in a few hours to relax before the Vis Moot officially starts. 30 FRIDAY Generations in Arbitration exploring ADR Misc.: Generations in Arbitration (GIA) stands for the unique combination of a seminar for students and a workshop for practitioners. The seminar will cover topics such as Avoiding Mistakes and Building Rapport when dealing with an international panel. The seminar is designed to polish your advocacy skills for the upcoming days in Vienna. The workshop will cover ADR and its most popular means Arbitration and Mediation/Conciliation. The panellists will focus on several particular aspects that rise in the course of ADR procedures. Please find further details on our website at www.maa.net. Since places are limited we encourage you to register as soon as possible once you have received the registration form. Vis Moot Opening Reception This is the official grand opening of the Vis Moot. After the opening address and welcome speeches you will have the opportunity to mingle with other teams, coaches and arbitrators while enjoying a glass of fine Austrian wine and finger food. 31SATURDAY Beginning of the General Rounds 292 of the arguments in the General Rounds will be held at the Juridicum. Another 64 arguments will be held at the law firm Dorda Brugger & Jordis. Juridicum, University of Vienna, Schottenbastei 10-16 (Hessgasse) and Dorda Brugger & Jordis, Lueger Ring 10 8:30 am 1SUNDAY MAA Walking Tour Vienna by Night To make sure that you see more than your hotel room and the Juridicum, we have organised two walking tours to show you all the lovely places the city has to offer. The first tour will show you the highlights of Vienna such as the Imperial Palace (Hofburg), Albertina and St. Stephan s Cathedral. The second tour is specially designed for those of you who have been in Vienna before and want to discover the more hidden treasures such as the Mölkerbastei, where Beethoven lived for a while, the Palais Ferstel, the old town hall and the Mozart-house (the final surviving residence of Mozart, for whom there are celebrations for the 250th anniversary of his birth this year). Both tours start at the main entrance of the Juridicum, Schottenbastei 10-16 (Hessgasse). 7 pm (the tours will last for approx. 2 hours and will end at the Aux Gazelles) Misc.: To cover the expenses, we have to ask for EUR 5 per person. Annual MAA Dinner in Vienna Misc.: We will have our Annual MAA Dinner in Vienna at a place to be determined. The dinner is for MAA members & friends as well as those of you who want to become members. This is an excellent opportunity to meet with MAA members and to learn more about the MAA and its activities in a more private atmosphere. 9 pm Place is usually very limited. If you are interested to attend the MAA Dinner, please visit us at the Information Desk in the Dachgeschoss. 2 MONDAY Annual General Meeting of the MAA All Members of the MAA are invited to attend the Annual General Meeting (AGM). Juridicum, Dachgeschoss (top floor), Schottenbastei 10-16 15 pm 3 TUESDAY Bergsten s Big Band & Final Announcements Prof. Jeff Waincymer (Monash University) has initiated this Big Band in 2006. What initially started as a mere speech found its peek last year in a spontaneous music act preceded by a full blown stand up comedy. There is nothing better in order to relax before the 32 best teams will be announced which will proceed to the final rounds. Please make sure that you attend this event on time! 4 WEDNESDAY MAA Farewell Party at Empire Club This is the chance for most of the students, coaches and arbitrators to say good bye, let their hair down and have some serious fun. Empire Club, Rothgasse 9 9 pm (we will ask for a small contribution at the door to cover the expenses) The party will approximately last till 6 am!
5 THURSDAY The Final Hearing Two teams will meet for the grand Final Hearing. Reed Messe Wien Congress Center, Messeplatz 1 1 pm Awards Banquet With the awards show and a wonderful lunch the Vis Moot 2006 will come to an end. Congratulate the successful teams, the best oralists and take the chance to say goodbye to your new friends. Reed Messe Wien Congress Center, Messeplatz 1 3 pm (right after the Final Hearing) In addition, you can always pay a visit to the Bermuda Triangle (which is, contrary to popular opinion and myth, actually an area in Vienna). When there is no official Vis Moot or MAA function, Teams, Coaches and Arbitrators are welcome to gather for drinks and food at the Aux Gazelles, the new MAA Bar, in the Museums Quartier.
