Education & Accreditation Working Your Way Up ACCREDITED DIPLOMA IN PROCUREMENT AND SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT TAKE YOUR CAREER TO THE NEXT LEVEL

ACCELERATE YOUR CAREER IN SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT DO YOU ASPIRE TO REACH THE NEXT LEVEL IN YOUR SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT CAREER? Take the next step! Earn an Accredited Diploma in Procurement and Supply Chain Management, offered exclusively by Supply Chain Management Association Ontario. WORKING YOUR WAY UP? Supply Chain often draws professionals from a variety of backgrounds currently learning through on the job training. The Accredited Diploma in Procurement and Supply Chain Management was designed to advance the careers of skilled and motivated intermediate level supply chain management professionals seeking formal education in the field. Thoroughly assessed and accredited by the Canadian Supply Chain Sector Council through its National Accreditation Program, this unique program of study covers core management concepts for a career in supply chain.

WHY TAKE THE PROGRAM? The program provides key benefits for both participants and employers: Unbiased Recognition The program has been independently accredited by the Canadian Supply Chain Sector Council through its National Accreditation Program. This nationally recognized accreditation assures the participant of a program with unbiased recognition of quality. Commitment to Advancement Completion of this program signifies to employers the participant s professional commitment and growing expertise, advancing their career in the process. Individual Foundation The Accredited Diploma program was designed with the mid-level professional in mind, building on the existing skills and knowledge they have already developed through on-the-job experience. Current Knowledge The program provides insight into the most up-to-date industry issues, developments and best practices, helping develop key skills and knowledge immediately applicable to the participant s job responsibilities. Creating a Network The benefits of the program go beyond the curriculum, as the program also provides networking opportunities with professionals at all levels of supply chain. Taking the [SCMAO] Diploma Program has been an eye opening experience. The instructors engaged students by making it applicable to work-life situations and providing their own experiences to explain the course concepts. Being part of a class where students come from different industries, and listening to how they tackle their everyday supply chain activities, was also valuable. It s also been a great networking tool. Patricia Osterling, Project Buyer at Hatch Ltd. In the time that I was with [SCMAO] I have managed to change jobs a total of 3 times, each time increasing my breadth of responsibilities and overall income. With my most recent position I have doubled my salary and I couldn t have done it without the knowledge I gained from the courses. Deciding to take both [the Diploma and CSCMP] programs has been the best career decision I have ever made. Whitfield Lai, Director of Support Services at HealthPRO

PROGRAM CURRICULUM & STRUCTURE 1. BUSINESS MANAGEMENT COURSES The Accredited Diploma in Procurement and Supply Chain Management comprises three key phases of study: 1. Business management courses 2. Supply chain seminars 3. Integrative workshop & case study Together, these three components provide an integrated and comprehensive curriculum designed to be both practical and immediately applicable to the participant s current career. The core of the program comprises the following three mandatory courses. Each course consists of a 2-hour weekly webinar session for a period of 13 weeks. Supply Management Business Administration This course gives participants an overview of the business aspects, legal issues and other challenges facing procurement and supply management professionals. Participants analyze the roles of corporate and social responsibility, law and ethics to effectively manage the supply chain in the 21st century global marketplace. Evaluating Supply Management Costing Data This course provides participants with the financial and operational tools for developing and managing the supply chain. Participants will analyze the role of supply chain from both macro and micro economic perspectives. At the end of this course, participants will be able to understand the costs and key performance indicators that influence operational decisions and strategies, and make effective supply management decisions. The Financial Scope of Supply Chain Management This course gives participants the financial analysis tools for measuring and managing the financial stability of their supply chain. Upon completion, participants will understand the financial indicators that influence operational decisions and strategies, and how effective supply chain decisions are implemented and monitored.

2. SUPPLY CHAIN SEMINARS Participants must also complete seven in-person, 2-day seminars. These seminars can be completed concurrently with the Business Management Courses at the participant s own pace, allowing for an accelerated or decelerated completion of the program. Negotiation Strategies for Supply Chain Management This seminar provides participants a greater understanding of the negotiating process. The seminar reinforces a disciplined approach to negotiation strategy with flexibility built into the process. Competitive Bidding and the Tendering Process This interactive seminar provides a comprehensive understanding of the competitive bid process. Day 1 introduces the laws of competitive bidding and the tools used to conduct competitive bid requests. Day 2 focuses on the legalities of competitive bidding, including a discussion of the most recent rulings of the Supreme Court of Canada. Transportation Services This seminar introduces various transportation management strategies, including modal analysis and product constraints, selection criteria, acquisition, performance metrics and best practices. Inventory Management This seminar introduces the participant to the mechanics of inventory management, with a focus on key strategies to ensure sound inventory practices. Purchasing Process and Practice This seminar explores key elements of the purchasing process and various process improvement tools to save organizations time and money. These include benchmarking, re-engineering, just-in-time and Total Quality Management (TQM). Supplier Management and Sourcing This seminar introduces concepts of supplier selection, management and evaluation. Topics covered include: research, selection, maintenance, quality, joint ventures, metrics and buyer administration. Supply Chain Relationships for Success This seminar assesses the importance of creating, building and maintaining effective business relationships in supply chain management. Participants explore strategies for building and leveraging relationships within the supply chain. 3. INTEGRATIVE WORKSHOP & CASE STUDY The program culminates in a three-day workshop that synthesizes the key points learned through the business management courses and supply chain seminar sessions by applying course concepts including: the financial scope of supply chain management; supplier development; negotiations; transportation services; and inventory management. At the end of the workshop, participants will be given a takeaway case study assignment that draws on all previous course material, with a focus on ethical procurement practices. Successful completion of the assignment represents completion of the Diploma program.
