1. Introduction 1.1. Generalities A CM4000 (from firmware V3.0) coin mechanism supports a new CANON serial protocol for self service usage of the copier and the printer features of a CANON MFP. A CANON serial interface, called Kit-G1 or Kit-K1, has to be ordered from CANON, see the table «Models accepted» for the Canon Mercury part number according to the MFP type. A Cartadis cable ref. XCOJL254 has to be ordered for connecting the device to the CANON serial interface. The main advantages of using this serial interface over the popular key counter interface are: Payment in self service of both copies and prints. Smart calculation of the job price based on the B&W price, colour price and paper size prices. Jobs requiring a mix of B&W and colour pages are charged at a price calculated on the accumulation of the price of each independent page. The basic features of MFP are not reduced by the serial interface: o Print and copy speed is the same as in free mode. o Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) may be used. o Automatic Colour Detection may be used too. o Duplex copy may be used. Page 3/13

Networked printings must be secured with a code. The CANON machine will request for this code at the time of choosing the document. Documents sent without secured code will be thrown away. One or two modes of payment are available according to the CANON MFP model: o Former generation of MFP: Supermarket mode (no printing, copying only but very user friendly interface) or Multifunction mode. o New generation of MFP (Advance range) : the Multifunction mode is only supported. The CANON MFP mode is quite innovating as the control panel of the machine is always enabled which is not usual with other similar solutions. The control panel allows starting the scan process of a copy job or the selection of a print job. Before picking up the paper (once the price is fully evaluated), MFP asks for the money of the job cost. In MFP mode, the price is set from MFP while the supermarket mode price is carried out in the Cartadis units. Attention: This interface does not enable the scan, fax or «print from USB» functions of the MFP to be used. MFP cannot be set for free printings and payable copies at the same time. Copies and printing are always payable. CM4000 must be fitted with a firmware featuring at least the V3.0 or over. XCOJL254 cable Page 4/13

1.2. Models accepted Following CANON Multifunction models accept this interface: CANON Model Interface to order from CANON Functioning ir3180c(i) series ir5880c(i) ir6880c(i) irc2380(i) irc2880(i) irc3080(i) irc3380(i) irc3580(i) irc4080(i) irc4580(i) irc5185(i) CLC5151 CLC4040 imagepress C1/C1+ Interface Kit-G1 code: 1782B001AA Multifunction mode or Supermarket mode imagepress C6000/C7000 ir3225 ir3230 ir3235 ir3245 ir5055 ir5065 ir5075 ir70xx series Interface Kit-G1 code: 1782B001AA Multifunction mode only ir ADV C5030(i) ir ADV C5035(i) ir ADV C5045(i) ir ADV C5051(i) ir ADV C7055i ir ADV C7065i ir ADV C9060 PRO ir ADV C9070 PRO Interface Kit-K1 code: 3725B001AA Multifunction mode only Page 5/13

2. Connection 2.1. Mounting XCOJL254 cable in the coin mecahnism The CM4000 coin mechanism is connected to the serial interface of the CANON MFP by using the XCOJL254 cable. This cable replaces the present XCOJL230 cable. The installation procedure is carried out in two steps: 1. Removal of the XCOJL230 cable. 2. Installation of the XCOJL254 cable. Removal of the XCOJL230 cable - Remove the cash container - Pull out the coin selector by clipping off the 2 fastening tabs from the base. - Disconnect the 4 connectors from the coin selector to the case. Fastening tabs Page 6/13

Remove the two ground wire fastening nuts, Copier cable XCOJL230 Cable protection slide Take out the cable protection slide by unscrewing the fastening nut Free key connector Printer connector Connect e the XCOJL254 to this connector (If needed, cut the big shoulder of the CNT12 connector) Display connector Page 7/13

Do not connect the printer connector. The cable and its two connectors can be removed. Replace the coin selector on its base. Replace the protection slide and the cable clip by means of a plier., 2.1. Installation of the CANON serial kit Follow the installation procedure supplied with your CANON G1 or K1 kit. Once the CANON kit has been installed, connect the female Sub-D 9 pins of the XCOJL254 cable to the male Sub-D of the CANON Kit. Lock firmly the 2 screws avoiding the connector to be pulled out and the cable to be disconnected by malicious users. Page 8/13

3. Setting 3.1. CANON multifunction setting The CANON serial interface is operated from the service menus Service Mode Level 1 or Level 2 by initializing the following parameters: SERVICE MODE LEVEL 1: COPIER OPTION ACC COIN = 4 or 1 (1 supermarket mode) (4 multifunction mode) (the value COIN = 0 reverts multifunction to the free mode). SERVICE MODE LEVEL 2: COPIER OPTION ACC UNIT-PRC = 1 (1 displays the Euros amount to pay) (2 displays the amount in English Pounds). Useful in supermarket mode only: SERVICE MODE LEVEL 1: COPIER OPTION BODY MODEL-SZ = 0 (0 Display of the European paper sizes in the user s interface). SERVICE MODE LEVEL 1: COPIER OPTION ACC CARD-SW (0 coin insertion) (1 card insertion). Page 9/13

SERVICE MODE LEVEL 1: COPIER OPTION ACC MIN-PRC = 1 (minimum value of the smallest prices in cents). SERVICE MODE LEVEL 1: COPIER OPTION ACC MAX-PRC = 9999 (maximum value of the highest prices in cents). SERVICE MODE LEVEL 1: COPIER OPTION USER B4-L-CNT = 0 (0 in case the B4 paper size is counted as an A4, 1 in case the B4 paper size is counted as an A3). SERVICE MODE LEVEL 2: COPIER OPTION USER 2C-CT-SW = 1 (0 the pages in 2 colours are counted as «mono colour», 1 the pages in 2 colours are counted as «full colour»). In case the CM4000 is disconnected, the CANON MFP displays the error E719-0021. Such error code is erased from the menu: SERVICE MODE LEVEL 1: COPIER FUNCTION CLEAR ERR. 3.1. CM4000 coin mechanism setting The «CANON serial» communication protocol of the CM4000 is launched by setting the mode 7. There are three keys on the coin mechanism front face: Left key (LK), Middle key (MK) and Right key (RK). The setting procedure is as follows: 1. Insert the free copy key and turn it 2.
