Valtra introduces new smaller models in the N Series The two smallest models in the Valtra N Series are being upgraded. The new N93 and N103 models replace the N82 and N92 models, correspondingly. The new tractors feature a brand new nose and threecylinder engine. The new design significantly improves both visibility from the cab and agility. Working at night and in dark conditions is also improved thanks to new bi-halogen lights that combine both full and low beams. The new models are also considerably quieter than the models they replace. Both new models are available with Valtra s traditional HiTech transmission with three main powershift gears. The N103 is also available with a five-step HiTech 5 transmission. In terms of features and usage, it is the same as the transmission found on larger models, but it has been lightened to reduce the total weight of the tractor by over a hundred kilos compared with previous models. The new models are powered by AGCO Power s threecylinder 33AWI engine that features common rail injection and four valves per cylinder. Exhaust emissions are cleansed using a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) and an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system that circulates the exhaust via the radiator. As with all other Valtra tractors, the N93 and N103 models can be tailored for specific uses. For example, a forest cab and steel fuel tank are available for forestry work, and an SVC cab can be specified for municipal applications. The larger model is also available with cab suspension and the TwinTrac reverse drive system. Valtra Inc., Valmetinkatu 2, FIN- 44200 Suolahti, Finland, www.valtra.com
With the introduction of the two new models, the entire N Series has now been updated. The flagship of the N Series is the N163, the most powerful four-cylinder tractor in the world producing up to 171 horsepower with boost. The extremely popular N Series accounts for almost 50 percent of all Valtra tractors produced at the Suolahti factory in Finland. New look and new features for the Valtra T Series The Valtra T Series has been updated in line with the changes made to the N Series. In addition to a new look, the T Series has been given a wide range of updates and new features to further enhance the efficiency and usability of these tractors. The new 6.6- and 7.4-litre AGCO Power engines feature new turbos, a new belt system, a new engine management system and a new type of SCR system that cleanses exhaust emissions more effectively. Special attention has also been paid to fuel efficiency. The T163 Direct is the first Valtra tractor with a stepless transmission to feature Valtra s legendary EcoPower system. The system allows the driver to drop the maximum engine speed from 2100 rpm to 1900 rpm while increasing maximum torque from 680 Nm to 740 Nm with the press of a button. By doing so, maximum power is available at just 1700 rpm and maximum torque at 1250 rpm. The EcoPower feature reduces fuel consumption by up to 10 percent depending on the type of work and conditions. It also reduces noise, is more environmentally friendly, and extends the life of the engine.
The usability of the new T Series models has been taken to a new level with the introduction of second generation transmissions. Direct 2.0 allows the engine and transmission to work together even more precisely. On Versu and Direct models, the operation of the cruise control, PTO, auto-steer and four-wheel-drive features has been moved from the side panel to the driver s armrest for easier access. On Direct models, the driver can adjust how the transmission reacts to engine load using the potentiometer. For example, drivers who appreciate fuel efficiency can favour lower engine speeds, while drivers who are looking for steady PTO speeds can prioritise constant rpm instead. Like all other Valtra tractor, the new T Series can be tailored at the factory according to the customer s requirements. A wide range of features and options makes it easy to find the perfect combination for farming, municipal contracting, forestry work and demanding contracting tasks.
Valtra introduces new colour options for its tractors For over 20 years Valtra has been the only tractor company to offer customers the unique opportunity to select the colour of their tailor-made tractor. The selection of colour options is regularly updated with the introduction of new models. The most popular colour for Valtra tractors has traditionally been Valtra red, which accounts for almost 40 percent of all production. Among the newest colour options, black and grey have also grown in popularity. While the traditional Valtra red remains the same, metallic red is now a shade darker and closer to burgundy. In this way the new metallic red is more easily distinguishable from the non-metallic red colour. Similarly, metallic green is also a shade darker and closer to that of pine trees, and metallic blue is closer now to midnight blue. The biggest change is silver, which is now closer to a dark grey graphite colour. The new colour options are: red, metallic red, metallic grey, black, white, orange, metallic green and metallic blue.
Valtra to begin limited serial production of biogas tractors The model chosen for limited serial production is the 110-horsepower N101. This dual fuel tractor can run on both transportation grade biogas or natural gas and diesel. In dual fuel engines, a mixture of biogas and diesel is injected into the cylinders. The small amount of diesel combusts under comprehension, while 70 to 80 percent of power is produced from the biogas. The tractor can also be driven on diesel alone if biogas is not available. Valtra has taken the decision to begin limited serial production of biogas tractors during the course of 2013. Valtra is the first tractor manufacturer in the world to begin serial production of biogas tractors. Valtra has undertaken systematic research and develop into biogas tractor technology in recent years. A four-cylinder N Series prototype biogas tractor was unveiled in summer 2010, followed by a six-cylinder T Series biogas tractor in autumn 2011. The biogas solution does not limit the use of the tractor for different tasks, conditions or implements. The biogas tractor promotes the use of renewable energy in agriculture and forestry, as well as in municipal contracting. When both biogas and biodiesel are used for the fuel, the tractor runs on completely renewable energy. The use of biogas can also generate significant savings in fuel costs. Registering the biogas tractor will require special approval in each market, as common emissions regulations have not yet been agreed for dual fuel vehicles. www.valtra.com Valtra Inc. develops, manufactures, markets and services Valtra tractors.
