Blown Fibre Tube Cable Connectivity Prysmian Part Numbers: See Individual Descriptions 1) Swept Tee Branching Unit 3) Extended In-Line Enclosure 2) 90 Tee Piece Branching Unit 4) 4 Port Extended In-line Enclosure 5) Tube Intercept Joints This is a guide to the selection of cable connectivity used in the Sirocco system. These items are used for blown fibre tube connectivity only and not for fibre connectivity. Items 1 4 are used to join or distribute from blown fibre tube cables with 7 tubes or more (when utilising any of the Direct Buried range of tube constructions) and for 12 tubes or more when utilising the Direct Install range (cable diameter dependent). Item 5 would be used to accommodate up to a 7 tube cable with up to 4 tube cable for the drop. These connectivity products can be introduced as part of the original network build, or can be fitted at a later date as required. The units are intended to protect the area of the tube-to-tube connection and allow access to the tubes to establish the initial link and any additional future links or revised routing i.e. they are re-enterable. Features and Benefits All products can be fitted on day one or retro-fitted as required. All products are suitable for direct burial or installation in manholes. Fast installation using Sirocco cable and tube cutters. Individual tubes can be connected or blocked using the standard range of Sirocco tube connectors (see datasheet SA001) Items 1 4 Resistant to significant ingress of mud, sand and debris. Impact resistance a 1kg steel ball falling from a height of 2m. Items 1 & 2 available as kits with grab rings, port reducers & manifolds. For items 3 & 4, these are supplied separately. Item 5 Sealing to IP041. Supplied with necessary cable adapters, end caps, connectors and cable ties for in-line cable plus one drop cable. Internal product moulded with LSOH material. Kit Contents These products are sometimes supplied as a kit comprising the body of the branching unit together with the appropriate inserts to manage the cables to be used in it. In most cases the kit would include the following additional parts: Grab Rings used to cushion the primary cable within the body of the branching unit (alternatives appropriate to size of cable being used). Port Reducer used to allow cushioning of smaller drop cable from primary cable link. Manifold and Plug Kits used to manage a number of drop cables from a primary cable link. See following pages for kit contents. Page 1 of 8

Tube Intercept Joint Prysmian Part Numbers: XJTSC00203 (External) XJTSC00204 (Internal) 350mm 130mm 52mm The Tube Intercept Joints are in-line closures designed for intercepting a blown fibre tube cable to allow a spur-off to smaller blown fibre tube cable drops. The closures are non-watertight but meet the requirements of IP41. No screws or fixings are required to assemble the closures. The closures are supplied with sufficient components to install the in-line blown fibre tube cable and a blown fibre tube drop cable of up to 4 tubes. The units can be used both as a Cable Distribution Joint and in Cable Jointing Applications. The Internal and External Tube Intercept Joints are supplied with cable adapters, 4 x 5mm end caps, 4 x 5mm straight connectors and cable ties, sufficient to enable the preparation, installation and connection of one in-line blown fibre tube cable and one blown fibre tube drop cable. The Internal product is moulded with Low Smoke Zero Halogen (LSOH) material. In both designs, there is an internal metal chassis (stainless steel) for cable retention and simple installation. Tube Connectors Prysmian Part Numbers: see Datasheet SA001 To actually make the individual tube connections or cap unused tubes, preventing moisture or solid material migration, inside all of these blown fibre tube connectivity products, a range of tube connectors are available which push fit over the 5mm tubing to achieve a water and gas-tight connection. The capabilities of the range of tube connectors can be found in datasheet SA001. Tools Prysmian Part Numbers: see Datasheet SA004 In order to prepare the blown fibre tube cables for distribution or connection, the blown fibre tube cables and the tubes will need to be prepared. The recommended tooling is identified in datasheet SA004 and will also be referred to in the relevant CIG (Cable Installation Guide) as noted throughout this datasheet.
