Haus der Kommunikation Alszeile 72a 1170 Vienna Austria info@superevent.com superevent.com Superevent App Voting manual Version 1.0 Introduction to voting The app can be used to let attendees vote on questions. This can be in plenary sessions but also in breakout sessions. An active Internet connection is required to vote and both the speaker and the attendees are required to use the app. Voting is very simple and flexible. In a nutshell: The voting functionality is role-dependent and works differently in the speaker s app and the attendees app s. The speakers can start and stop a voting round and can see the results. Attendees can only vote. The speaker checks-in into the sessions where he is supposed to speak by tapping on the play icon with the blue border. The border will turn green to indicate that the speaker is checked in. The speaker inserts a slide in his or her presentation with (a) question(s) and the associating multiple-choice answers (a maximum of 5). The questions and answers themselves are not part of Superevent. The app only shows generic buttons. To start the voting round, the speaker taps the vote icon and taps the start button. Attendee s check-in in the same session by tapping the same blue bordered Play button. To join the voting round they tap the vote icon and then the Refresh button to show the current question and answers. The attendee makes a choice and taps the Submit button. When the speaker feels like ending the round, he taps the Stop button and gets the results immediately. Direct on his phone or tablet. The speakers can Reset to start the next round. Attendee s can join this new round by tapping the Refresh button after the speakers tapped the Start button for the new round. All the results of the voting rounds are available on the Superevent website in the analytics section of the session. How does the voting work? Make sure everybody is signed up before the session! It is essential that as much attendee s as possible are signed up before the session starts. If an attendee has not signed up in the app he can t join the voting. That s the reason it is of utmost importance that Superevent is brought under attention during the day at the registration, by the chairman and the speakers. See the FAQ for instructions on how to successfully signup an attendee. Make sure a good and stable Internet connection is provided Voting is a functionality that depends on an Internet connection. Only devices with an active Internet connection can be used in a voting round. 1 of 5
Start the voting rounds in the app The speaker uses the app to go to his or her session via the program. Please note that a speaker should be assigned as the speaker of that session in Superevent. If someone else is going to do the voting part of the session, that person has to be added as a speaker also. The organizer of the event can assign speakers to sessions in the backend of Superevent on superevent.com. Voting is accomplished in three steps: STEP 1: SPEAKER The speaker shows the first question on a slide: The speaker asks the attendee s to grab their phones and start the app. When the attendee s are ready, the speaker can start the voting round by tapping the Start button (right top side). Now the speaker can ask the room to cast their votes. 2 of 5
STEP 2: ATTENDEE Attendee s select the current session through the program section. After they found the session they can check in by tapping the Play icon and go to the vote page. The vote page displays five answer options. The app always shows these five. If you need two answer possibilities, use option one and two. The attendees should not use the other possibilities. If an attendee does not see the answer possibilities, a tap on the Refresh button will rejoin the attendee with the current question. After switching the sought answer, the attendee has to tap the Submit button to cast the vote. STEP 3: SPEAKER After a while the speaker can announce that the voting round will end and can close the round by tapping Stop In the app. 3 of 5
After closing the voting round, the speaker directly sees the results in his or her app. The results are showed in percentages, not in absolute numbers. The speaker can announce the results or let someone add the results to the Powerpoint presentation or flipover. NEXT QUESTION? When the results are addressed in the session, a next question can be asked to the public. To start a new voting round, the Reset button must be tapped. All results will be erased in the app for the new round. The Start button appears again and the question number will be increased by one. These steps can be repeated until the last question in the presentation. 4 of 5
The results can be accessed in a second way by using the Superevent backend. The organizer can use the session analytics tab to get the voting results. Choose Analytics in the menu (see below), the voting section can be found on the bottom of the page. The analytics page shows graphs of the voting rounds with all the answers on the questions. Results can be gathered on this page after the session. 5 of 5
