FALKIRK ARCHIVES Local authority records Falkirk District Council Finding Aid (7) Leisure The finding aid for the records of Falkirk District Council has been divided into 7 parts. This part contains a list of the records of leisure, culture, recreation and related functions. From 1975 to 1996 under the two tier local authority structure, Districts had responsibility for libraries, tourism, leisure and recreation, parks, museums and art galleries, war memorials and burials and cremations. In 1975 Falkirk District Council divided these functions between two departments: Amenity & Recreation and Libraries & Museums. In 1989 these two departments were amalgamated to form the Leisure Department, re-named Leisure Services in the 1990s. A1057.005 Jun 1973 Local Government Re-organisation. Falkirk District.
