Supplier Qualification System (SQS) for global visibility of Shell suppliers www.shell.com/supplier/qualification

Supplier Qualification System (SQS) Shell values its relationships with suppliers and with Achilles assistance we will maintain a single source of supplier information. This intelligence and insight into our supply base will enable us to continue to form and maintain strong relationships with our suppliers. Jim Pearson, Shell CP Systems & Processes Manager This booklet explains: - SQS: Making it easier to do business with Shell - Why Shell is introducing SQS - What SQS means to our suppliers - How to register - Fees SQS: Making it easier to do business with Shell In the 90 countries in which we operate, our Contracting & Procurement specialists are purchasing from thousands of suppliers worldwide. We have made the strategic decision to introduce a global Supplier Qualification System (SQS) to manage the complexity of our supplier information and this system will be our key means of qualifying suppliers to work with us. One of the main drivers for the Supplier Qualification System is to make the process of doing business with Shell easier. The use of SQS will enable us to standardise and streamline the way we engage with suppliers in different locations, qualify them and share that information amongst Shell businesses. Overall, we anticipate this will reduce the cost, time and effort involved in doing business for both Shell and our suppliers. Joining the system enables suppliers to qualify for future work with Shell and ensures that supplier profiles become visible to the Shell global organisation. The system is operated by Achilles who will assist suppliers with registration and provide ongoing support.

Why Shell is introducing SQS Shell worked with Achilles to develop a Supplier Qualification System that represents a holistic view of Shell s existing and potential suppliers. This system will enable Shell to gain global visibility of accurate up-todate information, benefitting both Shell and suppliers. With the new SQS, Shell can use the information to: - Identify suppliers for the products and services we want to buy, - Understand potential risks of doing business with suppliers, - Encourage improvements in supplier standards, if necessary. The system will streamline the supplier qualification process, enhance our risk management, contribute to corporate social responsibility (CSR) and position us to comply with future changes to regulations and legislation on a global basis. Streamline supplier qualification - Our Contracting & Procurement specialists will have access to information about their current suppliers and those that provide products and services to other parts of the business. This will help them choose the best supplier for their purchasing needs. SQS also provides a registration point for entering all supplier qualification information, removing duplication of effort and saving time for both Shell and suppliers. Work with suppliers to mitigate risk The system assesses suppliers capabilities and any health and safety, technical, financial, CSR, and legal risks associated with doing business with them. Contribute to corporate social responsibility Shell will develop and strengthen relationships with suppliers who contribute to sustainable development and conduct business as responsible corporate members of society. Position us for future developments The system will enable us to capture information that we may need to meet changes in regulations or legislation in the future. What SQS means to our suppliers We are asking all our suppliers to register. We anticipate that the new process will add value for you too. Registering in the system will enable you to become qualified to work with Shell, or continue to do business with us. Potential for more visibility within Shell Shell business units with which you are not currently doing business will be able to view your company s profile. Enter data only once You will no longer need to provide standard qualification data to different Shell business units multiple times. The process will collect and keep your company information in SQS and you are asked to update your company profile annually, or whenever there are relevant changes in your business. Our Contracting & Procurement specialists will be able to access and view the data you provided to produce a shortlist of qualified suppliers for upcoming purchasing events. Benefits at a glance Get qualified to work with Shell. Avoid duplication of effort and save time. Achieve greater visibility of your company profile across the Shell global organisation.

How to register SQS provides a secure environment, available 24/7 to register and update your company information. The registration process is split into two stages. All suppliers need to complete Stage 1 registration. The number of subsequent steps you need to take is determined by the assessment of criteria that are important to Shell. Please note SQS is only available in English. To become a registered supplier you need to do the following: Stage 1 - Registration and Risk Assessment All suppliers, including those who are already members of other Achilles buying communities (FPAL/JQS), and suppliers who have recently tendered for business with Shell, will need to complete the initial online questionnaire. There is no charge for Stage 1 registration and it will take approximately 10-20 minutes to complete. The process gathers basic information about your company such as your company s contact details, products and/or services offered and region of supply. If your company profile is identified by the system as low risk, you will not be required to take any further action. Stage 2 - Risk Management via detailed questionnaire If your company profile is not identified as low risk, you will be asked to continue with your registration. This involves the payment of an annual subscription fee and will necessitate the submission of information and certificates related to finance, health and safety, quality management, insurance, products and services, CSR policies and legal information. Supplier registration stage 1 PROCESS Depending upon your company s risk rating, you may also be required to undertake a further assessment of your company s health and safety and/or finance and/or CSR policies. These further assessments are covered under the annual subscription fee. SUPPLIERS ACHILLES BUYERS Application Apply to join SQS via the Shell website.
