SUMMER SCHOOL: structure & objectives Each Summer School includes 36 hours teaching in the relevant business and management sector and 9 hours in French language. The program will include company visits, testimonials by industry experts and a specific field project. Students can chose amongst three Summer Schools in 1 - GLOBAL LEADERSHIP AND INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS: This course is designed to introduce students to the complex world of international management and cross-cultural communications. Modern managers must be able to understand how diverse organizations function and how to communicate in a wide variety of cultures. An in-depth study of cross-cultural analysis principles and models will be completed by a brief survey of their application to different functions of management such as motivation, decision making, organizing, leadership etc. Both differences and resemblances in managerial values and behaviors across cultures will be identified. In addition, students will learn how to analyze their personal international experiences and how to use them as a basis for understanding the broader international environment. 2 - LUXURY AND FASHION BRAND MANAGEMENT: The course will focus on the fundamentals of luxury and fashion brands. However, in order to understand the specificities of the luxury and fashion industry and its management, it will also introduce the main advances and developments in the diverse luxury sectors. Participants will acquire an advanced comprehension of the new global dimensions of luxury and the socio-cultural and context related impact on the branding of products within this framework. The recent luxury industry development in fast growing economies is causing many questions on how luxury brands and large luxury groups can get organized to improve their social as well as environmental performance in a world with increasing inequality and ethical issues. To understand this complex process, participants will be exposed to perspectives from: - Luxury Business Sectors and sociocultural impacts - Globalization of Luxury and Fashion in the fast growing economies - Digital Marketing and Communication in the Luxury and Fashion Industry At the end of this Module, participants will be able to: Knowledge & Understanding: Understand the fundamentals in luxury and fashion Brand Analyze how fashion brands achieve a luxury status
Develop insights into the sociocultural dimensions of luxury in particular with respect to the internationalization of luxury and fashion towards the fast growing markets Evaluate the communication orientation in the industry and its transformation towards the digital 3 - TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT: This course will prepare students to become entry-level managers in the tourism and hospitality industry through exposure and examination of contemporary operational and managerial issues, situations and techniques. This will include, for example, the management of traditional and nontraditional types of lodging establishments, food and beverage, the MICE market, recreation, and entertainment. The use of yield and revenue management will be investigated and the importance of leadership will be underlined. The emphasis of the course is placed on the research and management techniques for quality service. The principles of international quality standards are also discussed in detail. This will be done through their building a foundation of management knowledge, developing appropriate management skills and introducing them to problem solving methods and helping them to develop and implement strategic management solutions.
