1 General Banking School June 12 June 17, 2016 Holiday Inn Louisville East 1325 South Hurstbourne Parkway Louisville, KY Tuition with (private) lodging $2000 Tuition only $1600 Year II Student add $135 Fee Kentucky Bankers Association 600 West Main Street, Suite 400 Louisville, KY Phone (502) What the bankers are saying.. Year 1 The KBA General Banking School is an excellent and valuable tool for Kentucky bankers. It provides invaluable opportunity for networking, in addition to the informative and interesting lectures provided by knowledgeable people who are leaders in their respective fields. Keep up the good work. Year 2 I have thoroughly enjoyed both years of KBA School. The staff and speakers are wonderful and I feel it has truly been an honor to come. I have learned so much, grown as a banker & person, and loved the friendships & contacts made along the way. Thank you! The hands on simulation was great this year! I learned so much in the small group setting talking through decisions for our bank.
2 Purpose & Mission The Kentucky Bankers Association s (KBA) General Banking School is designed for employees who possess a current knowledge of banking that sufficiently prepares them for this advanced paced curriculum. The mission of this school is to teach bankers to understand the business of managing a bank company, the financial decisions that must be made, how each bank department is inter-related and the economic environment of the business of banking. The KBA General Banking School will prepare bankers for any of the national graduate schools of banking. Who Should Attend The school is designed for recent college graduates, management trainees, and bank employees who wish to build on skills acquired through the Essentials of Banking School. The following minimum requirements are suggested:, An associate degree, ABA courses in Money and Banking, Principles of Banking, and/or Accounting, or equivalent college courses and three years experience in the financial service industry; or, A bachelor s degree in finance or economics and one year experience in the financial service industry; or, A master s degree in finance or economics and no experience in the financial service industry; or, A graduate of the Essentials of Banking School., Applicants with special circumstances will be handled on an individual basis. Benefits of Attending The General Banking School builds a bridge between concepts and practical application. The curriculum consists of practical classroom sessions and experience with a computer-generated bank simulation,. The balance of classroom and simulation creates a program that will be of value to bankers throughout their career. The school provides bankers with:, A comprehensive understanding of the connections between banking functions and the banking environment., Practical application of classroom learning by completing Intersession assignments., Opportunities to experience the complexity of managing a successful bank through a hands-on computer simulation. Graduation Requirements To successfully complete the required course of study and graduate from the school, the following requirements must be met. Participants must:, Attend all classes., Successfully complete Year I., Attend intersession day in the fall, complete the intersession exercises and receive a satisfactory evalua- tion of the exercises., Participate in, as a part of the Year II curriculum and receive a satisfactory evaluation., Pass all exams.

Year I - Intersession Exercise Participants are required to complete a series of research and study problems between the first and second year. Intersession study problems are designed to provoke research and evaluation of current banking issues, problems or opportunities. The goal of the Intersession study is to expand the thought process of the banker into areas previously unexplored. Lessons learned through the Intersession series will be applied during the second year of study. More importantly, the participants will possess greater ability to contribute to the progress of the bank. Year II - A sophisticated computerized bank management simulation highlights the second year curriculum. Participants have the opportunity to manage a bank as part of a management team. All concepts of the curriculum come into play as bankers make decisions relative to the bank s profitability and success. The experience ends with a stockholders meeting to review each bank s progress. This simulation model was developed by the American Bankers Association and FDIC.
