Align steering wheelpointing forward and remove key from ignition. 2. D i s c o n n ec t a n d i s o l a t e t h enegative battery term inal. Disconnect the clockspring horn and steering wheel s wi t c h p i gt a i l wi r e harness connector from the c l e o recepta n t h e b ac k o f t h e d r i v e r a i r b a g h o u s i n g. 6. Di s c o n n e c t t h e c l o airbag c k s p r pigtail n g wire harness connector f r om t h e a i r b a g i n f l a t o r c o n n e c t o r r e c e p c t at a e c d l o e n, t h e w b h ac i k c h o f t i h e s l o airbag housing. To disconnect the connector : a. S l i d e t h e o r a n g e C o n n e c t o r P os i t i o n A s s u r a n c e ( C P A ) l oc k o n t h e c o n n e c t o r t o wa r d t h e t o p o f t h e c on n e c t o r. b. D e p r e s s t h e c o n n e c t o r l a t c h t a b an d p u l l t h e c o n n e c t o r s t r a i g h t away from the inflator initiator. c. Remove the airbag from the steering wheel. N O T E : T h e s t e e r i n g w h e el h a s m a s t e r s p l i n e s b u t t h e s t e e r i n g s h a f t d o e s n o t. T h e s t e e r i n g w h e e l m u s t b e m a r k e d p ri o r to r em o v a l o r t h e w h e el c a n b e r e i n s t al l e d w r o n g i n a n y p o s i t i o n. 7. Mark the steering wheel and steering column shaft wit h a p a i n t o p e n ensure the proper orientation when installing. 8. R e m o v e t h e s t e e r i n g wh e e l b o l t. ( 1 ) 9. Remove the steering wheel from the steering column. 1 0. Install and tighten the three screws that secur e t h e c l o c k s p r i n g a n d t h e m ultif u n c t i o n s wi t c h t o t h e b r ac k et wi t h i n t h e s t e e r i n g c o l um n. T i g h t en t h e s c r e ws s e c u r e l y. 2 1. R e m o v e t h p e l as t i c l o c k i n g p i n o r t h e a d h e s i v e t a p e t h at s e c u r es t h e clockspring rotor to the clockspring case to maintain clockspring centering. 2 2. I n s t a l l t h e s t e e r i n g wh e e lo n t o t h e c o l um n. 23. Install the steering wheel bolt. Tighten to 59 ( 8 0 ft N. m ). lbs 2 4. P o s i t i o e n d t r h i v e r a c i l os r e b a enough g to the steering wheel t o r ec on n e c t the electrical connections on the back of the airbag housing. 25. Reconnect the clockspring driver airbag pigtail wire harness connector t o the airbag inflator connector receptacle, which is locat e d o n t h e b ac k o f t h e d r i v e r a i r b a g h o u s i n g. B e c e r t ai n t h a t t h e l a t c h o n t h e c o n n ec t o r an d t h e o r a n g e C o n n e c t o r P os i t i o n A s s u r a n c e ( CP A ) l o c k a r e e ac h f u l l y e n g a g e d. 2 6. Reconnect the clockspring horn and steering wheel s wi t c h p i gt a i l wi r e C o m m e r c i a l V e h i c l e S e r v i c e P a g e 4
