I. GENERAL INFORMATION, FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES AND RULES 1. UÜYÖS is an examination taken by foreign or overseas students who wish to study at Uludağ University. The examination is held by Uludağ University Rectorate. The results obtained from this exam can be used for applying for Uludağ University (UÜ) foreign or overseas students quotas. This examination is conducted by Uludağ University. 2. This examination guide covers the rules to be followed by foreign or overseas applicants who would like to apply to Uludağ University for receiving education in 2016-2017 academic year and prepared to inform about UÜYÖS. 3. The UÜYÖS document is valid for 2 (two) academic years following the examination date. 4. All correspondence between UÜ and applicants must be in Turkish. 5. The applications for the examination will be accepted between 04 April 29 April 2016 and can only be made online. Applications submitted outside the application term and applications submitted in person or via mail will not be accepted. Candidates completing the Examination Application form must print out the Examination Application Form generated by the system upon completion of the form and Examination Entrance Certificate indicating the examination locations to be announced, and bring them along to the examination. Moreover, candidates must bring along their identity cards/passports and residence permits, if any. (Examination halls will be announced at the Uludağ University s website http://www.uludag.edu.tr/ on 6 th May 2016) 6. The applicants who have lost their Examination Admission Document can reprint their documents by logging in the system again with their Y.U./T.C./Passport Numbers. 7. The UÜYÖS result can only be used for applying for the quotas of Associate Degree and Undergraduate Degree Programs. Those who have been studying at an institution of higher education (undergraduate transfer) or in the selection and placement transactions of those who would like to receive post-graduate education need to apply for the related higher education institution directly. 8. The applicants who have to travel for taking UÜYÖS meet their own needs such as residence permit, accommodation, subsistence etc. 9. The application fee paid by the applicant cannot be transferred to the following years. The fees paid by the applicants who don t or can t apply are repaid upon request.the fees paid by the applicants whose applications are considered invalid, those who do not or cannot take the examination, those who are not accepted to the examination or dismissed from the exam, those who fail or whose examination papers are considered invalid in addition to those who have paid an amount for a transaction that is free of charge, are not repaid. 10. Personal candidate statements will be taken into consideration to check whether they meet the application requirements for UÜYÖS examination which will be administered on 13 th May 2016. Candidates not meeting the application requirements or misrepresenting themselves will not be entitled to any rights with the scores they achieve. 11. Candidates are required to ensure whether they meet the Terms of Application in line with the Uludağ University Foreign National Student Acceptance Directive and the application principles for accepting foreign national students prescribed by Council of Higher Education (YÖK). 3
II. APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS A) On condition that they are senior students at high schools or graduates; The applications of the applicants who 1) Have Foreign Nationality, 2) Are Turkish citizens from birth and received the permission for withdrawal from citizenship from the Turkish Ministry of Internal Affairs and those who are able to certify that their children who are recorded in their parents document of permission for withdrawal from citizenship and have not reached at a lawful age and have the document concerning the exercise of the given rights in accordance with the Turkish Citizenship Law, (Article 7 of the Turkish Citizenship Law (5901) states that A child born to a Turkish mother or through a Turkish father within the unity of marriage either in Turkey or abroad is a Turkish citizen. The applicants are strongly advised to read the Turkish Citizenship Law before submitting their applications). 3) Have foreign nationalities from birth and later acquired Turkish citizenship / have such dual citizenships 4) a) Students who have Turkish Citizenship and continued their last three years of secondary (high school) education abroad except Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus before 01/02/2013 (including those who have completed their High School Education abroad, except Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, in Turkish schools accredited by Ministry of Education) can apply for foreign student admission quotas, b) Applicants who have started their secondary education after 01/02/2013 and completed their secondary (high school) education in a foreign country except Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (including those who have completed their High School Education abroad, except Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, in Turkish schools accredited by Ministry of Education) can apply for foreign student admission quotas, 5) Have Northern Cyprus citizenship and reside in Northern Cyprus and those who have completed their secondary (high school) education in Northern Cyprus and have GCE AL exam results and enrolled in colleges and high schools in other countries between 2005 and 2010 and have or will have GCE AL exam results will be accepted. Those who cannot apply B) The applications of the applicants who 1) Are Turkish citizens and have completed all of their secondary (high school) education in Turkey and TRNC 2) Are Northern Cyprus citizens (except those who have completed their whole secondary (high school) education in TRNC and have GCE AL results and enrolled in colleges and high schools in other countries between 2005-2010 and have or will have GCE AL exam results) 3) Have dual citizenship and the first one is Turkish which is given by birth as defined in Clause 2 of Article A (except conditions which are defined in Clause 4 of Article A) 4) Have dual citizenship and one of which is TRNC citizenship (except those who have completed their whole secondary (high school) education in the high schools of TRNC and have GCE AL results and enrolled in colleges and high schools in other countries between 2005-2010 and have or will have GCE AL exam results) 5) Have Turkish citizenship or dual citizenship first of which is Turkish given by birth as defined in Clause 2 of Article A and study at schools which are affiliated with the embassies of Turkey and foreign high schools in Turkey, are not accepted. 4
Candidates not meeting the terms of application will not be entitled to any rights with the scores they achieve even if they take the examination. Any candidate applying to UÜYÖS is deemed to agree to all of the conditions specified in this manual and Uludağ University Foreign National Student Acceptance Directive. Click here for the Directive. III. APPLICATION PROCEDURE 1. Paying the Examination Fee Candidates applying to UÜYÖS Examination may apply online by depositing the examination fee (150,00 TRY) to Uludağ University Halk Bankası Uludağ Üniversitesi Branch (IBAN No: TR 30 0001 2001 3290 0006 0000 27) account number indicating Name Surname UÜYÖS-2016 in description as net 150,00 TRY (excluding the bank charges) during the application period. Applications will not be approved and assessed if the examination fee is not deposited in full. The examination fee must not be sent as a private cheque, or in an envelope, or as a postal cheque or through similar means. You cannot apply to the examination without depositing the examination fee. Candidates applying from foreign countries; will be deemed as deposited the examination fee after they have transferred the examination fee to Uludağ University Halk Bankası Uludağ Üniversitesi Branch IBAN No: TR 30 0001 2001 3290 0006 0000 27 account number indicating Name Surname UÜYÖS-2016 in description as net 150,00 TRY (excluding the bank charges) via correspondent and internationally operating banks located outside Turkey and the said amount is received and cleared in full. 2. Filling in the Application Form : The applicants who want to apply for the exam are required to fill in the application form which they can get from http://www.uludag.edu.tr web address after paying 150,00 TRY into the account number given above. The explanation relating to the filling the information part in the Application Form are given in order below.when filling the sections related to identity information in the form, passport, foreign nationality no (Y.U. No) T.C. Identity No information of the applicants must not be changed or contracted. The responsibility of the consequences resulting from misinformation while the application process belongs entirely to the applicant. THE INFORMATION ON THE BANK RECEIPT 1) Bank Receipt Number (BIMREF No.) 2) Branch of the Bank 3) Date / Hour of the Bank Receipt The digital version of the applicant s self-photo must be attached to the Photograph section on the application form. The photo must be head shot (4,5 x 6 cm size), taken in the last three months, from the front view, barefaced and ensuring that the applicant is easily recognizable. On the day of the examination if the Head of the Examination Hall finds difficulty in recognizing the identity of the applicant, s/he won t be admitted to the exam. 5
3. Completing the Application; Candidates shall complete the Examination Application Form, click on save button, and print out the Examination Application Form when they see Your application is accepted message. You need to bring along your Examination Application Form to the examination. Candidates are responsible for the accuracy of all kinds of information submitted in the Examination Application Form. Examination Application Form must be examined carefully and make sure that the information provided therein are accurate. Candidates with incomplete information or providing misinformation will not be accepted to the examination. Candidate statements will be sufficient for applications, however, any candidate making false statements, providing incorrect information, not meeting the terms of application, substituting others in the examination, acting in violation of examination rules and engaging in similar behaviors will not be entitled to any right granted by their scores even if they are accepted to the examination. Scores will be deemed null and void, and selection/enrollment will not be completed. In case such violations are identified, the examination result will be deemed null and void, and legal and administrative actions will be taken regardless of the time passed since the examination. IV. INVITATION TO THE EXAM - OBTAINING EXAMINATION ENTRANCE CERTIFICATES Information about examination buildings and halls will be announced at the Uludağ University website www.uludag.edu.tr on 6 th May 2016. Therefore, it is essential for the candidates to check the aforementioned website for the building and hall info prior to the examination, print out and bring along the Examination Entrance Certificate on the date of examination. Candidates not bringing their Examination Application Form and Examination Entrance Form along will not be admitted to the examination. Candidates must complete UÜYÖS entrance and permission to go abroad in their home country in line with the relative regulations in their country. UÜ shall not assume any liability in the matters of candidates going to the examination centers, getting permits to take the examination or get passports issued and act as an intermediary for such procedures. V. EXAM UÜYÖS examination will be administered on 13 th May 2016, Friday at 10.00 a.m. Turkish Local Time. Candidates taking the examination must bring along the following documents: 2016 UÜYÖS Examination Application Form, Examination Entrance Certificate, and Identity Card, Passport (Residency Permit) specified in the application. Candidates are allowed to bring the following items only: soft tip pencil(s), eraser, pencil sharpener, and wristwatch. All kinds of other tools or items are not allowed. Candidates will be accepted to the examination hall after verification of their credentials at 9:30 am. Examination will begin at 10:00 am. It is important for the candidates to be ready in front of the building at least one hour before the examination time so that they will be accepted on time. The examination will be administered in a single session. UÜYÖS Basic Learning Skills Test will consist of questions (50%) intended to measure the abstract and analytic thinking, letter number and shape relations and reasoning power of the candidates, and questions (50%) intended to measure the numerical skill powers requiring mathematical and geometrical knowledge and capabilities. There will be no Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Geography questions in this test. This test is slightly based on language, however, the questions are prepared in both Turkish and English. 6
All the questions in the examination booklet are multiple choice type questions. Each question has five options and only one option is correct. Candidates will find the correct answer of each question and mark it on the Answer Sheet. The answer given to a specific question will be deemed as wrong if multiple choices are marked or a single choice is marked casually for the said question on the Answer Sheet. The answers must be marked on the answer sheet. The answers marked on the exam booklet will not be valid. It is mandatory to use pencil for all kinds of writing and markings on the answer sheet. Ballpoint pens and fountain pens are strictly prohibited. It is against the examination rules for the applicants to talk and cheat during the exam. If an applicant is noticed for such a behavior, his/her exam will not be valid. Each applicant will submit his/her examination booklet and answer sheet to the supervisor of the exam hall. The answer sheet of the applicants whose exam is accepted as invalid because of disobedience to the exam rules or not submitting the necessary documents will not be evaluated. VI. THE EVALUATION OF THE EXAM RESULTS Tests are prepared as multiple-choice questions and evaluated on computer. Each correct answer given to each question in UÜYÖS Basic Learning Skills Test will be added to the overall score, and wrong answers will not be deducted from the candidate s score. VII. THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE EXAM RESULTS Exam results will be announced online on www.uludag.edu.tr web on May 27, 2016. VIII. SELECTION PROCEDURES Following the announcement of Examination Results, selection procedures will be accepted online via www.uludag.edu.tr between the dates of 10-24 June 2016. Students will be allowed to make 5 (five) selections, and placements will begin from the first choice. All selections are final after the expiry of selection period. IX. FINAL CLAUSES Only Turkish language will be used in all kinds of correspondence (e-mail, mail, fax, etc.) between UÜ Foreign National Student Acceptance Commission (YDOK) and the candidates. Commission shall not be responsible for any correspondence delayed or got lost in the mail. The rules prescribed in this guide can be changed if it is necessitated by the decision taken by the Higher Education Council after the publication of this guide. YDOK will determine the procedure to be followed in such a case. Rules stipulated by YDOK will be applicable in any and all circumstances that are not covered in this manual. Candidates identified as not meeting the application requirements will not be entitled to any rights granted by their scores even if they ve taken the examination, and their selection applications will not be evaluated as well. Uludağ University is free to fill the announced quota or not. Meeting the application requirements does not mean further acceptance. 7
Right to enrollment is finalized subject to the recommendation of Foreign National Student Acceptance Commission and approval of Faculty/Graduate School Administrative Board. Right to enrollment will not be valid unless approvals are given. Candidates who cannot present their documents at the time of enrollment will not be enrolled to the university. Dates and conditions specified are subject to changes to be made by Uludağ University. Changes will be announced to the candidates on University s website one week prior to implementation. UÜYÖS-2016 EXAMINATION CODES OF CONDUCT 1) It is forbidden for the applicants to bring mobile phones. Your examination will be null and void if your mobile phone rings during the examination or examiners identify any improper situation. 2) It is prohibited to use the following items in the examination: communication devices such as pagers, radio transmitters, etc., PDA s, wristwatches with calculator and databank function, all kinds of devices with computer function as well as fire arms, etc., scratchpads, books, dictionaries, electronic devices with dictionary function, calculator, calculation sheets, compass, protractor, ruler, etc. Examiners will write down the names of candidates using such tools during examination in the Examination Hall Official Report, and examinations of such candidates will be null and void. 3) UÜYÖS exam duration is 120 minutes. (2 hours) 4) Candidates are not allowed to leave the hall in the first 30 minutes and the last 15 minutes of the examination. You may leave the hall in case you complete the answers after the first 30 minutes and before the last 15 minutes of the examination by handing over your answer sheet to the examiners. Otherwise, you are required to remain in the hall until it is announced that the examination period is over, and wait until all answer sheets and exam booklets are collected. 5) Under no circumstances any candidate handing over the answer sheet and leaving the hall will be re-admitted to the examination. 6) Candidates are not allowed to talk with and ask questions to examiners during examination. Similarly, examiners are not allowed to talk with the candidates near them and with a low voice; furthermore, candidates are not allowed to exchange pencils, erasers, etc. 7) You are required to abide all kinds of warnings of examiners. Examiners may ask you to change your seat if necessary. Above all, you need to abide all examination rules for your examination to be valid. Your name will be added to the official report and your examination will be null and void in case you act in violation of the rules and warnings. 8) Anyone cheating, attempting to cheat, helping and assisting in cheating during the examination will be noted in the Examination Hall Official Report, and the examinations of such individuals will be null and void. Examiners are not required to warn the cheaters or any candidate attempting to cheat. You are the only responsible party. It is extremely important to safeguard your answer sheet and keep it away from others during the examination. 9) Distribution of the candidates answers given to the questions will be processed using data processing methods. In case the findings of such processing reveal individual or collective cheating, answers of any candidate involved in such cheating will be deemed null and void partially or entirely. In case examiners report that an examination is not carried out in line with the rules or there is an attempt to cheat collectively in an examination hall, (YDOK) may, at its discretion, deem the examinations of all candidates taking the examination in the said hall null and void. 8
10) You are required to complete the relevant fields of the answer sheet. It is mandatory to use pencil for all kinds of writing and markings on the answer sheet. Ballpoint pens and fountain pens are strictly prohibited. The answers must be marked on the answer sheet. The answers marked on the exam booklet will not be valid. 11) Check the exam booklet for missing pages and typographical errors when instructed by the Examiner. Notify the examiner immediately to replace the exam booklet in case there are missing pages or typographical errors. Check each page of the exam booklet to see whether the exam booklet type printed on each page matches the exam booklet type printed on the cover. Notify the examiner immediately to replace the exam booklet in case they don t match. In case you notice such error at a later time, refer to the examiner to replace the exam booklet with a correct one matching the type that you ve answered so far. 12) Use a pencil to write your name, surname, candidate number, and current Hall Number in the field allocated for this purpose on your exam booklet. Exam booklets will be collected at the end of the examination, and inspected by (YDOK) individually. Your examination will be null and void even one page of the exam booklet is missing. 13) You can use the empty spaces on exam booklet pages as a scratchpad. 14) It is strictly prohibited to write down the questions and your answers on a separate paper and take it out after examination. 15) Do not forget to handover the exam booklet and your answer sheet to the examiners before you leave the examination hall. 16) UÜYÖS-2016 Guide will not be distributed but will only be published on www.uludag.edu.tr web address. 17) For more information and updates on application, examination and results please visit http://uludag.edu.tr/uluslararasi/default/konu/1201.
