Mijn Waternet Quick-start guide

Mijn Waternet Mijn Waternet (My Waternet) allows you to manage your water accounts wherever and whenever you want. You can check your water bills and water tax assessments, enter your water meter readings and change your personal details. You can do all this without setting foot outside the door or picking up the phone. Unfortunately, the Mijn Waternet page is only available in Dutch. This guide is designed to help you get started on Mijn Waternet and to find your way around the website. It is also a useful reminder of how Mijn Waternet works. Getting started with Mijn Waternet Waternet provides two different categories of services. On the one hand, we treat waste water, maintain water levels and keep surface water clean. To finance these activities, we collect water taxes (Waterschapsbelasting) on behalf of the Regional Public Water Authority Amstel, Gooi and Vecht. On the other hand, we supply drinking water (Drinkwater) to Amsterdam and the surrounding area (Amstelveen, Diemen, Duivendrecht, Heemstede, Muiden and Ouderkerk aan de Amstel) on behalf of the local authorities. On the left side of the page, you can log in to manage your water taxes (Waterschapsbelasting). You can view and pay your tax assessments and edit your personal information and preferences. On the right side of the page, you can log in to manage your tap water account (Drinkwater). You can view your water bills and edit your personal details and preferences. Both menus remain visible, even if you are only logged in to one of them. We will explain the log-in process below. Mijn Waternet Quick-start guide April 2016 4

Logging in to Mijn Waternet Log in to Water taxes (Waterschapsbelasting) On this page you can take care of your water taxes. Since water taxes are administered by the Regional Public Water Authority, they are a government matter. That s why you need to log in with your DigiD, a username and password that grant you access to government websites. Click Inloggen met DigiD (Logging in with DigiD). You will be redirected to the DigiD website and you will return to Mijn Waternet once you are logged in. If you have yet to request a DigiD, you can do so by clicking DigiD aanvragen (Request your DigiD). In the water taxes menu, you can view you tax assessments, pay your assessments directly online, set your preferences and change your personal details. In your dealings with government bodies, you are often required to prove your identity using your ID card, passport or driving licence. When dealing with government matters online, you can prove your identity by logging in with your DigiD. Government bodies, such as the Regional Public Water Authority, will then know that they are dealing with the right person. You can request your DigiD at https://digid.nl/en/. Mijn Waternet Quick-start guide April 2016 5

Log in to Drinking water (Drinkwater) Log in to this part of the website to manage your drinking water account. Since your drinking water account is administered by Waternet itself, you can access it using a Mijn Waternet log in. Log in to the Mijn Waternet drinking water menu by clicking Inloggen. If you do not have an account with Waternet, click Account aanmaken and fill in your client number (Klantnummer), your date of birth (Geboortedatum, dd/mm/yyyy) and email address. You will then receive an activation email. By clicking the confirmation link in the email, you will be able to create a password. Note: You can find your client number on your Waternet bank statements or on any Waternet correspondence (e.g. invoices and annual statements). Mijn Waternet Quick-start guide April 2016 6

Water taxes (Waterschapsbelasting) This chapter only applies to clients living in the region of Amstel, Gooi and Vecht who pay their water taxes directly to Waternet. If you are not sure this applies to you, find out by checking your postcode at http://www.waterschappen.nl/mijnwaterschap/. Moving house (Water taxes) Are you moving house? If so, you will have to inform your local authority. You do not have to inform Waternet separately. If you only pay your water taxes to Waternet, we will receive automatic notification from the local authority. However, you do have to inform Waternet separately if we are your drinking water supplier. In that case, you will have to provide us with the details of your change of address. For information on how to do this, please see Moving house (Drinking water). If you have any other queries about your address and correspondence address with regard to water taxes, please contact your local authority. Mijn Waternet Quick-start guide April 2016 7

View your tax assessments (Water taxes) Log in to Waterschapsbelasting and click Rekeningen at the top left of your screen. In the left menu, you will see your yearly tax assessments and their current status. In the first column, you will see the year of your tax assessments. The second column shows the amount you have to pay. The due date is shown below this amount. Betaald means your assessment is already paid. To see the specification, click the tax assessment. Mijn Waternet Quick-start guide April 2016 8

Pay your tax assessments (Water taxes) Log in to Waterschapsbelasting and click Rekeningen (Assessments) at the top left of your screen. Click Aanslag betalen (Pay this tax assessment). This will take you to the specification of your tax assessment as seen below. Click Aanslag betalen again. Select your bank and click Naar ideal. This will take you to your bank s online payment page. If you wish to object to your tax assessment, click the blue button Bezwaar maken at the bottom right of your screen. Select the reason for your objection and provide an explanation. You will receive a response within six weeks. If you are unable to pay due to financial difficulties, click Ik kan niet betalen at the bottom left for more information. More about your tax specification Watersysteemheffing is a water management tax (e.g. flood prevention). Zuiveringsheffing is the water treatment levy. Mijn Waternet Quick-start guide April 2016 9

Most of them are administered by the local authority and cannot be changed directly (name, social security number, date of birth, address and correspondence address). Contact your local authority if you have any questions about these details. The only personal details you can change on Mijn Waternet are your email address and your phone number. Click Wijzigen to edit them. You also can change your contact preferences and method of payment. For more information on how to do this, read Receive your tax assessments by email (Water taxes) and Change your method of payment to direct debit (Water taxes) above.
