VŠE places a high priority on the development of international relations, and nowadays it has more than 130 partners from Europe, North and South America, Australia and Asia. The University of Economics, Prague is a member of many international organizations (EFMD, EUA, EIASM, Consortium of International Double Degree, etc.) and prestigious network, namely the PIM and CEMS international alliances. Since the early nineties the Faculty has been practicing a credit-based system of study, and it has developed and put in place the necessary mechanism for enabling the exchange of students transfer and accumulation of credits as provided for by ECTS (the European Credit Transfer System). Students have exceptionally high standard of language abilities and broadly based knowledge. Full-time Master of Arts Program Taught in English Full-time Master of Arts Program Taught in English This master programme in economics is essentially geared to students interested in careers in research, in government and international organisations, and in research and strategy departments of large banks and industrial and commercial corporations. It is an English-language Joint European Studies Programme. In September 2005 the M.A. was selected by the European Commission as and Erasmus MUNDUS Master Course. The programme started operating from the academic year 1994/1995, as an Erasmus MUNDUS Master Course from the academic year 2006 2007 onwards. The program is organized by consortium of seven European and two non-european partner universities: Universiteit of Antwerpen, Antwerp, Belgium Università degli Studi di Bari, Bari, Italy Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Brussels, Belgium Université Lille 1, Sciences et Technologies, France Vysoká škola ekonomická v Praze, Czech Republic Universidad de Cantabria, Santander, Spain Staffordshire University, Stoke-on-Trent, GB Xiamen University, Xiamen, P.R. China Universidade de Brasília, Brasília DF, Brazil The diplomas M.A. in Economics of Globalization and European Integration are jointly awarded by the partners and are signed by the Rector, President or Vice-chancellor of each partner university (a joint degree).
Accreditation Since the academic year 2007/08, the M.A. in EGEI program has been accredited by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic as a master s programme of the Faculty of International Relations of the University of Economics, Prague (VŠE). The graduates are entitled to use the title Ing. per Czech legislation. Structure of the Program The Master programme covers issues of advanced theoretical and applied economics especially in relation to the problems of globalisation and European economic integration. Accreditation Structure of the Program The Master programme has a workload of 60 ECTS. The taught part of the programme consists of 45 credits and the dissertation of 15 credits. The study programme is fulltime and runs over 12 months. It is taught by pedagogues of the nine partner universities. They may however choose more option courses from both lists. Only the best marks from both lists will be used to calculate his/her overall average.
Admission Procedure Requirements The programme is open to students who have earned 240 ECTS credits in an economics or applied economics university study programme or have a bachelor degree in these areas that is considered by the Joint Studies Board to be equivalent. Admission Procedure How to apply In this programme, students from the European Union member countries, EEA-EFTA countries (Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway) and from the candidate countries for accession to the EU (Croatia, Turkey and FYROM (Macedonia)) can study. All necessary information for application at Vysoká škola ekonomická is available at http://egei.vse.cz. Students may profit from an Erasmus and university grants. The programme M.A. in EGEI is open to third-country students as well, whereby the third country is defined as any country not mentioned above. The application form of third-country applicants to the programme has to be sent to the University of Antwerp. For all necessary information see http://webhost.ua.ac.be/eitei. The tuition fee for non-eu students is 7.000 euro, and 3.300 euro for EU students.
VŠE Student Facilities Student status Students of EGEI obtain a student ID card which allows them to use the facilities and services offered by the university, i.e. library, canteen, computer laboratory, WiFi connection, etc. They also benefit from other student advantages, for example public transport student tariffs and other reductions provided by the state and private institutions. Libraries The university s library is open for students, subject to a simple registration procedure. The library contains more than 480 thousand books, electronic information resources and many international journals. Students can visit and use other public libraries in Prague. VŠE Student Facilities Information technology Computer labs (International Study Centre computers with an English menu) are available for international students (with printers and copiers). There is free access to WiFi on the university campus if you use your own laptop. A Study Centre is available in the dormitory, too. Accommodation The JAROV university dormitory is available for students. It is situated in the Žižkov district of Prague 3, which is approximately 20 minutes from the university. Double-bedded rooms are equipped with kitchenette, bathroom and Internet access. Meals Students can eat at the canteens on the university campus and at the Jarov dormitory for student (lower) prices. There are also other meal opportunities (cafeterias, academic club). Mentorship: Buddy System The ESN VSE Buddy System is an Erasmus Student Network organization that facilitates the student and social life of foreign students in the Czech Republic. Students from abroad are offered the possibility to pair up with a Czech student who will help them to settle more easily into the new environment. The organization helps before arrival and during the stay, especially during the first few days. Foreign students are accompanied from the airport or the train/bus station to the dormitory and are provided with a basic orientation to the city and school, assisted with school and other formalities (school ID card, public transport pass, etc.). The Buddy System organizes trips, meetings, parties and other activities for students throughout the entire academic year.
