4 PhD in Corporate Finance Taught entirely in English at the Lille campus The PhD in Corporate Finance is a four-year programme as part of the activities of the Lille 2 SKEMA Research Center. 5 The PhD programme Content of the programme Methodology Quantitative techniques Theories of corporate finance Research seminars and workshops FIRST YEAR Second YEAR Econometric Programming and access to financial and accounting databases Advanced methods in econometric analysis Auction Theory Theoretical Modeling in Corporate Finance Research Seminar Students will also be required to write a research proposal, which will be the starting point of their PhD thesis. Admission to the second year To enter the second year, students must have obtained: 1. At least a B in each course 2. A successful defense of the research proposal before the scientific committee. In case the requirements for the admission to the PhD are not satisfied, an MSc in Research is awarded if at least a C has been obtained in all courses. They are expected to present a paper in at least one (peer-reviewed) academic conference. Third and fourth YEARs The third and fourth years are dedicated to the writing of the dissertation and of at least one paper. By enrolling with the SKEMA s PhD in corporate finance, I feel not just as a student but also a full member of the research center. 6 Practical information ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS Admission to the PhD programme is based on a previously completed Master s degree course (or equivalent). Students accepted into the PhD programme generally also take a registration into the Lille 2 University Doctoral programme. Applicants should have the ability to understand and write in English. ASSESSMENT PROCEDURE The applicants are assessed by a selection committee. On the basis of the committee s assessment, the PhD programme director decides who should be accepted in the PhD programme who should be offered vacant PhD scholarship(s)/ assistantship(s) ASSESSMENT CRITERIA The assessment committee will assess whether the applicant seems capable of carrying out a research project. In connection with this, the CV and diploma/transcripts will be examined, and applicants with outstanding academic background and high potential research projects on the basis of their Master thesis for instance will be given preference. (see the application procedure document) Doctoral study is a full-time project. Accordingly, we only admit students who expect to devote all their efforts to the programme. FEES The fee is payable for the first three years. Thereafter, a reduced rate is charged. For the 2016/2017 academic year, the annual fee is 5,000 for EU students, 10,000 for students funded by companies and for non-eu students supported by a national grant. A number of post graduate studentship awards are made to the most qualified candidates.
