Our professional learning covers: innovative courses to develop the confidence of teaching practical PE, using PE to raise achievement across the school, subject coordinator training, and bespoke support and innovative products. Suggested pathways through the full range of professional learning can be found on pages 6-9. In addition to these professional learning opportunities, and new for 2016/17, all Youth Sport Trust level 2 and 3 member schools will have access to a National CPD Seminar. This will provide our member schools with cutting edge innovation and development to improve the quality and delivery of PE, school sport and physical activity. For 2016/17, this seminar addresses; The Power of an Active School. This seminar will summarise the evidence that; ACTIVE LEARNERS = HEALTHY LEARNERS = BETTER LEARNERS It will help you to audit your current practice and provide solutions to reduce sedentary behaviour and embed physical activity into the culture and structure of the school day. I therefore encourage you to spend some time looking at the professional learning opportunities detailed in this booklet. The Youth Sport Trust Quality Mark aims to help you understand the needs of your school and your young people. We have developed a number of exciting and innovative national programmes with partner organisations to achieve the best possible outcomes for young people through PE and school sport. The funding of these programmes enables us to offer priority access to Youth Sport Trust member schools, and offer the programmes at no additional cost to schools that meet the entry criteria as determined by the funding partner. 5.1 MATALAN SPORTING PROMISE TOP SPORT KS2 teachers Adults other than teachers who want to develop a curriculum and multi-skills approach to PE at KS2 Course description Sporting Promise is an award-winning grass roots sports initiative that has impacted on over three and a half million children in the last five years. Encourages teachers to use higher order questioning to challenge and extend learners. The programme helps practitioners unlock the potential of children (aged 7-11 years) in KS2 PE by: Developing their physical and social skills. Improving wider learning skills, such as confidence and managing individual emotions. Increasing their understanding of their own health and wellbeing. Quite a few of the children I teach have been able to improve or progress their motor skills onto the next level, because of the training I have received. Primary Teacher 30 YOUTHSPORTTRUST.ORG/CPD
