Adult education in OSAO Training can be provided at an educational institute or in the form of apprenticeship training. Adult education at Oulu Vocational College is a flexible way to acquire and develop knowledge and skills needed in working life. While continuing to work, students can complement their skills through evening classes, multiform education or e-learning. Apprenticeship training, an attractive alternative Apprenticeship training is hands-on learning at a workplace complemented by theoretical studies: on-the-job learning (guided and goal-oriented study at the workplace) periods of knowledge-based teaching independent/self-study A contract of temporary employment = A fixed-term employment contract (apprenticeship contract) is signed by the parties of the apprenticeship training employer and employee. Adult education in OSAO The employer pays wages according to the collective agreement for the duration of the training. Oulu Vocational College provides apprenticeship-based training for all valid vocational qualifications. Adult education is mainly carried out as competence-based qualifications. Finland has been developing competence-based qualifications since 1994. This system is intended to enable working-age adults to gain qualifications without necessarily attending formal training. Skills Programme for Young Adults (NAO) at Oulu Vocational College National programme in Finland, part of the youth guarantee Target group: young people aged 20 29 who lack a post-basic education qualification entirely. Training within the skills programme for young adults will be arranged in the period of 2013 2016. The first training programmes started in 2013. Funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture 52 million will be granted to the Skills Programme in Finland each year during 2014-2016 (26 million in 2013) The Skills Programme provides the opportunity to complete a vocational qualification or a part of it.
