ITINERARIES 3

ITINERARY From London we cycle through the beautiful English countryside via the North Downs and onto Portsmouth, where we cross the channel to the French port city of Caen. For the next two days our route takes us through the rolling hills of rural France and into its vibrant capital. Our finish line is the mighty Eiffel tower in Paris where we celebrate are achievements! DAY 1 LONDON PORTSMOUTH 97KM / 7HRS CYCLING From the start line in Richmond Park our route takes us through Hampton Court quickly leaving behind the busy commuter roads and on into the heart of rural Surrey. After a pub lunch we continue south through villages, on undulating minor roads, and up onto the North Downs. From here a welcome descent from the Downs brings us into Portsmouth where we have time to refresh and check our bikes over before boarding an overnight ferry to Caen. DAY 2 CAEN - VERNEUIL SUR AVRE 135KM / 8HRS CYCLING Our ferry arrives early morning in Ouistreham, just north of Caen, in France. We cycle the short distance to Pegasus Bridge (WWII), where we enjoy a delicious continental breakfast! After the daily route brief we depart east towards Canon where we pause for a rest stop at the historic chateau. We continue through tiny hamlets and onto the town of Livarot for lunch. A climb then takes us from Livarot up onto a ridge, across a quiet plateau and on to the canton s capital L Aigle. From here we embark upon a 20KM time trial on a dead straight road from L Aigle to Verneuil working up a good appetite for an evening meal in Verneuil.. DAY 3 VERNEUIL SUR AVRE - PARIS 140KM / 9HRS CYCLING And so to our final day of cycling. An early start sees us depart Vernueil at a leisurely pace along deserted country roads heading south east towards Chartres. Pausing in tiny hamlets, we have time to enjoy the true feel of French country life. We skirt the cathedral city of Chartres before turning North through the Foret de Rambouillet and onto a majestic French Chateau for a late lunch. After lunch we press on to Versailles and its famous Palace - seat of the French Monarchy. From here it is a final push through the city suburbs along cycle lanes, across the Seine and our finish line under the Eiffel Tower. Tonight we celebrate our achievements in a Parisian restaurant. DAY 4 PARIS - LONDON Today is free to explore this fantastic city before taking an early evening Eurostar departure back to London. 4

ITINERARY Cycle London to Paris brings together two of Europe s most exciting cities and is a challenge not to be missed. Our route takes us over the South Downs and across the Normandy countryside before we finally arrive under the arches of the iconic Eiffel Tower in the French capital, where we celebrate our achievements - Parisian style! DAY 1 LONDON - NEWHAVEN DIEPPE 95KM / 7-8HRS CYCLING We meet very early morning at the iconic London Eye, with great views down the Thames. Our journey begins through London traffic with the quickest possible route out of the capital and into the great English countryside. The route changes to quieter B roads as we cross over the M25 into West Sussex and the South Downs. We ride into Newhaven in time for our early evening channel crossing to Dieppe. We eat dinner on board and have the opportunity to relax with the rest of the group. Once on dry land again we cycle a short way to our hotel. DAY 2 DIEPPE - BEAUVAIS 118KM / 8HRS CYCLING After breakfast we warm up in preparation for another big day, leaving the limestone cliffs behind us and heading inland into the beautiful Normandy countryside. We speed past French villages, traditional farming hamlets and agricultural land, as we follow quiet winding roads and cycle up and down the beautiful valleys. Exhausted, but exhilarated by the end of the day, we roll into our hotel, located on the outskirts of Beauvais. We have a good French meal before collapsing into bed. DAY 3 BEAUVAIS - PARIS 93KM / 8HRS CYCLING For our final day we set off with Paris in our sights. We follow the river Theram for a while before breaking away and heading towards the small town of Meru and the chateau of Chantilly, from where we make our way through a quiet forest. Finally, as we enter the Parisian suburbs, excitement mounts, and the first views of the river Seine and the city s monuments give our aching legs a new lease of life. We cross a number of bridges and the traffic intensifies the further we go into the centre. Our final ride down pretty Parisian boulevards takes us to the finish line, and the iconic Eiffel tower. We celebrate with our French friends late into the night. DAY 4 PARIS - LONDON Today is free to explore this fantastic city before taking an early evening Eurostar departure back to London. 5
