9 Telephones at Home Hearing aid compatible GSM mobile phones This range of Hearing Aid compatible mobile telephones has been chosen specifically because they are all easy for everyone to use. Instead of making things small and complex, with these mobiles things are bigger, louder, clearer and easier to handle! The mobile phones are well designed and offer a range of useful features such as direct dial memories, easy menu navigation and large fonts. They have good tactile buttons, which are not too small or close together, a vibration alert and most have an emergency SOS button on the back. These phones are classified as Hearing Aid Compatible (HAC), and most hearing aid users will be able to use them without any problems from interference. For more information about HAC and any of these phones, please visit our website www.deafequipment.co.uk. All these mobile phones have Bluetooth, meaning they will work with the Bluetooth headsets & neckloops we supply see page 182. All these phones are supplied unlocked (for use on any network) and SIM-Free. You will need to arrange for a SIM card from a mobile phone network operator for use with these phones. These are readily available from supermarkets or your local mobile phone shop. Note: Doro Secure 580 requires a MicroSIM. For features and prices of all these models, please see comparison chart on page 180. T4 M4 Doro Secure 580 simple mobile phone A super simple, easy to use basic mobile phone which can receive all calls and has 4 pre-programmed buttons for dialling out to give peace of mind and ensure you can stay in touch. This phone is durable and splashproof and great for an elderly relative or someone who struggles to use a conventional phone or remember phone numbers. Ideally the Secure 580 should be set up for the user by a friend or relative. As it has no conventional keypad, programming requires a little patience and can be fiddly but is straightforward and well-explained in the instructions. It is also possible to register for an online My Doro Manager account and set-up and manage the Secure 580 remotely. This is easier and saves time but it will use 3G to sync with the phone so make sure you have an internet data allowance as part of your mobile phone contract. As well as the SOS assistance button Emergency button on back on the back, this phone has a safety timer, which if not cleared (eg after taking a bath), automatically sends a text to pre-set numbers, along with GPS information to let people know where you are. A recommended choice for people with memory loss or visual impairment. We particularly like the ruggedness and simplicity of this phone and the ability to create a Whitelist where the phone will only accept incoming calls from pre-approved numbers. Note: the Secure 580 requires a MicroSIM card. Supplied with desktop cradle for easy charging. Doro PhoneEasy 612 The most basic of the Doro PhoneEasy range, the PhoneEasy 612 is a well-designed phone with a stylish flip design and a large clear screen. The camera is a handy feature. It has large font and high contrast colour themes for people with a visual impairment. A good sturdy phone. Well made and available in black or sophisticated purple, this is a popular choice. Doro PhoneEasy 624 The PhoneEasy 624 is very similar to the 612 but with a few nice added features such as a flash on the camera, a larger phone book, 3G connectivity and remote access via My Doro Manager. The ability to set up the phone remotely using the Doro software is a useful one if you have a technosavvy friend or family member who isn t nearby. Customers also find the clear external display very useful and the bright red colour is a popular alternative to conventional black. 178 Issue 52 Telephone 01737 247571 Prices exclude P&P Connevans Email sales@connevans.com Information www.connevans.info Shop online www.deafequipment.co.uk

A wide selection of spares and accessories for our range of mobile phones including spare power supplies, car chargers and batteries are available on our website search mobile spares. Amplicomms PowerTel M8000 This phone has extra large keys and a really good range of features, including a very loud ringer and a large, clear keypad. The PowerTel M8000 is a good allrounder and the only bar phone in our range. The talking keypad has a clear voice and is a nice feature. www.deafequipment.co.uk Doro PhoneEasy 632 The most advanced of our range of mobile phones, the PhoneEasy 632 is a hybrid phone while it isn t a smartphone, it does have internet access for emails and weather updates. Emails can be an easy way of sharing photos and sending video messages. It has a stylish front display and clear, easy to see buttons. The sound quality is good and it is HD (high definition) Voice certified. This phone is very similar to the 624 but with access to emails. A nice option if you re not ready for a full smartphone but would like to be able to send and receive emails while out and about. Note, we would recommend a SIM plan with a data allowance if you intend to use these features. Geemarc CL8500 The CL8500 from Geemarc is a neat flip phone which is unique in that it will allow you to answer and end a call without even needing to open it! It is also the only phone we have with the ability to work from two SIM cards which, combined with Quadband technology, makes it great for people who travel a lot. Our evaluation panel found the front call buttons to be good for people with poor dexterity and we liked the dual SIM feature which can be particularly handy for people who struggle to get a good signal on any one network. Amplicomms PowerTel M7500 The PowerTel M7500 is a compact flip phone with a nice range of features, including a camera which can take both photos and video. An unusual but handy function is the option to schedule power on/off times for the phone so you can set it to automatically turn itself off at night time, to save battery. The M7500 is a nice design with a very large and clear external display. It has some good features and a good volume level with a boost button. Amplicomms PowerTel M7000i A very loud, easy to use flip phone with a large screen and a good loud ringing sound. In the opinion of our evaluation panel, the Amplicomms M7000 is a really good phone, with a more comprehensive range of features than most in our range making it excellent value for money. 9 Telephones at Home Listening to mobile phones Bluetooth is an easy-to-use wireless communications technology. It is secure and operates over a short range of up to 10m. Bluetooth technology is universal and has become a global standard there is a wide range of Bluetooth enabled devices now available. Bluetooth is our recommended solution for hearing aid users. It enables them to move their mobile phone to a safe distance away from the hearing aid, avoiding interference and feedback. It is also great because it s universal, meaning that the Bluetooth neckloops we offer are compatible with all phones and tablets with a Bluetooth facility (most modern phones have this). All the products shown here are suitable for use with hearing aid & cochlear implant users who have a loop program. For further information about Bluetooth and any of these products, please see www.deafequipment.co.uk. Bluetooth is a common feature of mobile phones, however if you are unsure as to whether your phone is Bluetooth compatible, please contact your mobile phone provider.
