ISTANBUL
ISTANBUL, Istanbul is a cosmopolitan city built on two continents and its cultural and financial center. Located on both sides of the Bosphorus, the narrow strait between the Black Sea and the Marmara Sea, Istanbul bridges Asia and Europe both physically and culturally. Worthy to mention, Istanbul was one of three European Capitals of Culture in 2010 For top attractions and things to do, kindly refer to our package of optional excursions & tours herein after. Quick Tips before you go: Currency: There is no limit on the amount of foreign currency that may be brought into Turkey, but not more than 5 5,000 worth of Turkish currency may be brought into or taken out of the country Tipping: At various establishments like hotels, restaurants, Turkish baths, barbers and hairdressers, tipping at a rate of 5%-15% of the total is common. Taxi and dolmus drivers on the other hand, do not expect tips or even rounded fares. Language: The tours are not separated by language, so you may hear a bit of German, Italian, mainly English and more Turkish and what you hear in Turkish to English may be very different; what is said in Turkish may get missed in the translation. Therefore, if you can go with a Turkish speaking/understanding person, it may be better. Taxis: All taxis in the city (a total of 22,000) carry a meter. If the meter does not appear to be working, it is advisable to change taxis. The night fare commences after midnight.
