How to disable Java in Firefox 1. Open Firefox, click the Firefox button (Figure 1) and select Addons. (In Linux, OS X and Windows XP, click the Tools icon and select Add-ons). 2. We recommend leaving Java in Internet Explorer and using it as your primary UAB browser. How to disable Java in Internet Explorer These steps were derived from advice given in CERT's vulnerability note on CVE 2012-4681. 1. Open Internet Explorer. 2. Type ALT+T to activate the Tools menu and choose Manage Plugins. Choose All items from the Show dropdown menu. Disable Java Plug-in --version number--" (Figure 5). It is safe to simply disable all of the items that begin with Java, but be sure to get this one. Close Internet Explorer. Figure 5 3.
