Co/Shared Employment The Foundation Think about it this way: Client is inthe business of making widgets. Knows a LOT about widget making. PEO is inthe business of being an employer and getting the little details right. Hiring the PEO lets the client focus on what it does best!

Co-Employment Co/Shared Employment is a relationship between two or more employers in which each has actual or potential legal rights and duties with respect to the same employee or group of employees. Shared Employment message toclient: Right now, you have a relationship with your employees and you have 100% of the liability for your employees When you engage our firm, we sign an agreement called a client service agreement CSA for short.

Selling Co-Employment Shared Employment message to client: The CSA outlines the responsibilities and liability that we share in the areas of human resources, workers compensation, employee benefits, and payroll What does not change is direction and control of employees You maintain 100% direction and control And you no longer have 100% of the liability; we share some of the liability with you

What PEO is NOT PEO is not an insurance company PEO does not take over running the client s business PEO does not eliminate all liabilities PEO does not interfere in supervision, direction or control of the client s employees.

Risk Management At its foundation, PEO is about managing risks. Ultimately, the best clients are those that understand that compliance is hard, risk is everywhere, and you can t bury your head in the sand. Loss of Control The PEO neither wants nor needs control over the client s business. In fact, the PEO really, really does not want any control over the client s business. The PEO s core strength is in managing the details of employment, not in making widgets
