OPEROSA ACADEMIA INTRODUCTION The Operosa Academia, Young Artists Educational Program is developed with Master Classes, Workshops, Productions and Lectures in topics varying from vocal technique, history and periods of opera to career management and debates about current music business and art funding. Featuring renowned international guests this program is a platform from which young artists can gain important direction in their careers within the performing arts. The Operosa Academia Educational Program provides working learning opportunities in various performing art productions and is actively seeking to collaborate with local Music Schools and Academies as well as Business Schools by developing exchange between the arts and music business today. Since 2013 Operosa is offering the Academia Vocational Qualification Program. It is a work related qualifications course based on the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) of BTEC Specialist Performing Art Certificate and Diploma. It gives learners the additional knowledge, understanding and skills they need to prepare for employment. They also provide career development opportunities for those already in work. Qualifications are offered in the disciplines of Singing and Repetiteur. Operosa also runs individual coaching sessions for singers in repertoire, style, language or vocal technique. Sessions are available by appointment and can be booked by contacting the Operosa office.

THE UNITS AND COURSES Operosa Academia continually organizes 2-5 day courses of Master Classes and Workshops with specialized international guest teachers, coaches, lecturers and artistic directors as well as 3-week long fully staged and performed Productions. Unit Exploring Music Performance Skills level 1 (4 credits) Course 1. Master Class, 2 credits earned Participation in Master Class course which includes individual lessons in front of audience with guest Teacher, attending and engaging as auditeur in Master Class, working sessions with coaching pianist and performing in final course recital. Scope of work is vocal technique (singing), score reading skills (repetiteur) and interpretation. Course 2. Workshop, 2 credits earned Participation in Workshop course which includes lectures by guest Coach, individual consultation study and engaging in open discussion group sessions. Emphasis is put on developing the supporting skills of a performing artist. Unit Performing Arts Individual Repertoire and Showcase level 1 (4 credits) QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDIT FRAMEWORK (QCF) Operosa Academia offers two different level Qualifications (BTEC) which are the Level 1 Performing Art CERTIFICATE and the Level 1 Performing Art DIPLOMA in the disciplines of Singing and Repetiteur. These qualifications are divided into units which provide credits through completion of the following performance courses; Master Classes, Workshops, small scale Studio Scenes and full scale Productions. Participation in two Master Classes exploring different appropriate styles of repertoire suitable for the artist at different stages of training, attending and engaging as auditeur in Master Class, working sessions with coaching pianist and performing in final course recital. Scope of work is vocal technique (singing), orchestral score reading skills (repetiteur) and interpretation. Course 1. Master Class & Concert Course 2. Master Class & Concert LEVEL 1 PERFORMING ART CERTIFICATE (BTEC) Structure summary For Level 1 Performing Art Certificate participants must complete two units at level 1 and one further unit at level 2 and achieve 13 credits. The units toward Certificate qualification must be completed within a consecutive period of 18 months. Participants are free to choose the order of completed units. Any expired credits can be redeemed by participation in upcoming courses. 1 Master Class or 1 Workshop = 1 Course 2 Courses = 1 Unit (4 or 5 credits earned) 3 Units = 13 credits (4+4+5) 13 credits = Qualification Level 1 PA Certificate Unit Professional Development in Performing Arts Industry level 2 (5 credits) Participation in two level 2 Workshops in front of audience. Both courses finish with final showcase performance. Course 1. Workshop, 2.5 credits earned Working on recitativo, arias and ensemble with production Musical Director and Conductor. Course 2. Workshop, 2.5 credits earned Working in ensemble and individually on interpretation and expression in small scale studio scenes with production Stage Director. Total of 5 Credits earned, level 2

LEVEL 1 PERFORMING ART DIPLOMA (BTEC) Structure Summary For Level 1 Performing Art Diploma participants must have previously completed the Level 1 Performing Art Certificate and earned 13 credits. Participants must then complete additional five units at level 1 and one unit at level 2 worth further 25 credits. The minimum required number of total achieved credits for Level 1 PA Diploma is 37. The 6 units toward Diploma qualification must be completed within a consecutive period of 24 months. Participants are free to choose the order of completed units. Any expired credits can be redeemed by participation in upcoming courses. 1 Master Class or 1 Workshop = 1 Course 2 Courses = 1 Unit (4 or 5 credits earned) 6 Units = 25 credits (4+4+4+4+4+5) 25 credits = Qualification Level 1 PA Diploma THE UNITS AND COURSES Unit Presenting Performing Arts Work I level 1 (4 credits) Participation in two Master Classes with international expert in opera repertoire, recitativo, period expression and style, attending and engaging as auditeur in Master Class, working sessions with coaching pianist and performing in final course concert. Master Class & Concert, 2 credits earned Unit Presenting Performing Arts Work II level 1 (4 credits) Participation in two Master Classes of opera ensemble and scene work with international expert in opera repertoire, recitativo, period expression and style, attending and engaging as auditeur in Master Class, working sessions with coaching pianist and performing in final course concert. Concert performance should reflect the acquired artistic and dramatic understanding. Course 1. Master Class & Concert, 2 credits earned Course 2. Master Class & Concert, 2 credits earned

Unit Exploring Acting Skills level 1 (4 credits) Participation in two Workshops in front of audience with guest Stage Director; working on acting individual scenes of recitativo and as well as ensemble scenes involving two or more singers. The Workshops also require individual and ensemble music working sessions with coaching pianist and both courses finish with final showcase performance. Emphasis is put on the importance of reliability and teamwork. Course 1. Workshop, 2 credits earned Course 2. Workshop, 2 credits earned Unit Exploring Technical Support for Stage Performance level 1 (4 credits) Participation in two Workshops devoted to language in opera; pronunciation, understanding and musical flow of the text. Course includes individual and group work on recitativo, arias and ensemble together with linguistic expert and music coach. Course 1. Workshop, 2 credits earned Course 2. Workshop, 2 credits earned Working in the Performing Arts Industry level 1 (4 credits) & level 2 (5 credits) Participation in full scale opera production working with international artistic team of conductor, stage director, designers, cast and technical crew. Following auditions selected participants are offered cover or small principal roles allowing them to gain understanding of the complexity of opera productions as well as valuable on stage experience, and the chance to work with an orchestra. Total of 9 Credits earned, levels 1 & 2 = 60 working hours SCHOLARSHIP, PRIZES & INTERNSHIP Scholarships are available at the discretion of Operosa Academia. Internships are available upon application in the areas of administration, production logistics, assistant to artistic team and stage management. Following some courses the Academia may grant individual prizes or stipends toward participation in related extra curricular opera activities. APPLICATION & GUIDELINES The international BTEC Certificate and Diploma are part of globally recognized qualifications for careers in the creative industries. As part of an international curriculum the Academia courses are offered in English language. Applications are accepted all year round and selections are carried out through auditions. Participation in the required units is possible by payment of course fees or by appointed production internship.
