Passo del Tonale Situated on the border between Lombardy and Trentino Alto Adige and surrounded by the Adamello - Presanella and Ortles Cevedale and Brenta groups, Passo del Tonale is a wide, panoramic, natural amphitheatre lying between 1,884 and 3,100 metres above sea level. Winter tourist resort par excellence, Passo Tonale with the Presena Glacier has always been able to guarantee a long snow season. The whole pass catches the sun and with beginners slopes it is ideal for learning to ski - not to mention runs for the more expert. From the mythical 3 km long black Paradiso with a vertical drop of 710 metres, to the 4,500 m long picturesque Alpino with a 725 metre vertical drop. Make absolutely sure you don t miss the Presena-Tonale-Pontedilegno express : 11 km of pistes with a 1,740 metre vertical drop to be skied down in one go! In summer, it is the perfect base for walks, mountaineering and mountain biking along the Adamello Bike Arena routes. The Paradiso gondola which goes up to the glacier is also open during the summer months for mountaineers and anyone who wants to have a day out at high altitude.

Presena Glacier The Presena is one of the few glaciers where you can ski even in spring. A modern gondola takes you to 2,585 metres at Passo Paradise, gateway to the glacier that stretches before you right up to Cima Presena standing at a height of 3,069 metres. Majestic mountains surround the glacier like arms enclosing the skier in an idyllic embrace. This is where freeriders can access some of the most beautiful off-piste areas in the Alps: Mandrone, Maroccaro, Cima Venezia, Pisgana. There are also excellent opportunities for hiking on the glacier, and a thrilling mountaineering route passes through vestiges of the Great War. With your rucksack on your back, take the Footpath of the Flowers which runs along the crests of the Punta del Castellaccio and the Corni di Lagoscuro following a series of White War trenches and feel the tremendous satisfaction of reaching the Friends of the Mountain bivouac. A more demanding route takes you on to Passo di Maroccaro and up to Vedretta Presena. Attractions on the glacier in summer: the First World War multi-media tunnel. start of the Footpath of the Flowers with the new aerial walkways. walking below the glacier which from the end of June to the beginning of September lies under a geotextile cover to protect it from the sun s rays. The glacier affords splendid views of the surrounding high mountains and the lifts make it is also accessible to those who cannot manage the walk up. There are refuges at the gondola top station (2585 m) and at the top of the chairlift (2738 m) where you can sunbathe, have lunch or simply enjoy a drink while admiring the magnificent landscape.

Pontedilegno Refined and elegant, Pontedilegno has nonetheless managed to retain the charm of a mountain village. The silence and the magic of the town hold an irresistible lure for anyone looking for an authentic communion with a natural environment. Lying on a sunny plateau at an altitude of 1,258 metres, Pontedilegno is an important health resort, and as a centre for summer and winter mountain tourism it is considered the undisputed capital of the Upper Valle Camonica. In winter you can choose from ski runs of varying difficulty, and with a programmed snow-making system, 5 ski lifts and 8 pistes, all linked to the pistes of the Temù ski area, excellent skiing conditions are guaranteed. Summer offers the opportunity for magnificent walking and mountain biking in the Adamello Presanella Group, the Stelvio National Park and the Adamello Park. Golf enthusiasts can experience the thrill of playing on a beautiful course at 1,530 metres in Valbione, against the backdrop of Cima Salimmo and surrounded by the woods of the Adamello Park. For information go to the official website of the Pontedilegno Golf Club. There s much to do in the charming pedestrian zone: browse in fashionable shops, have an aperitif in the delightfu town centre bars and cafés, dine in a restaurant and try the traditional typical camuna-style food.

Temù Temù is a small village 1,144 m above sea level and only 3 km from Pontedilegno. It is surrounded by green meadows, coniferous forests and the imposing, snow-capped peaks of the Adamello group. In the winter months it has a ski area with 4 chair lifts and 8 pistes of varying difficulty linked to the pistes of nearby Pontedilegno. This means you can get on your skis in the village and make your way up to the Presena glacier at a height of 3,000 metres, passing through Pontedilegno and Passo Tonale on your way. The black run in the village is one of the most exciting in the entire linked ski area. During the summer the beautiful mountains surrounding the village are a favourite destination for bikers and walkers. The Roccolo Ventura chairlift also runs during the summer (check days and times of opening) and has hooks to carry mountain bikes to make the ascent easy for everyone. Lush pastures and magnificent larch forests are enchanting places where you can restore your spirits. In August every year the town hosts Art in the Street, an international gathering of wood sculptors where you can watch the artists at work in the streets of the old town. The Museum of the White War which houses rare war material found on the glaciers of the Adamello, has new premises in the town centre. During the summer, the new football pitch, located close to the ski lifts, hosts various football teams for pre-championship training. It s not unusual to meet football players and getphotos and autographs.

Vezza d Oglio Vezza d Oglio is a pretty town in the upper Valle Camonica, 9 km from Pontedilegno and 9 km from Edolo. Nestling at the confluence of two lateral valleys which frame the village, the Val Paghera in the Adamello Regional Park and the Val Grande in the Stelvio National Park, it looks out over an incomparable and enchanting landscape full of surprises. This is where you can regenerate mind and body all year round in close contact with unspoilt nature. The town is rich in history and local culture, glimpses of which can be seen in the streets of the town centre: the ancient Tower of the Federici family, the remains of a noble residence, and the Parish Church. In winter, the focus is on snowshoe walking, or as they say here caspolada. Every year in February an important event takes place: the Caspolada al chiar di luna - a moonlit snowshoe walk. During the summer Vezza d Oglio is the ideal base for many outings on foot and by mountain bike. For angling enthusiasts there is excellent fly-fishing in the International Fly Fishing Centre at the Adamello Events Centre. The Dona del zuc, a beautiful Folklore Festival which welcomes groups from around the world, takes place every year at the end of July, and in August there is the Red Rock, a thrilling high altitude mountain marathon.
