2 1.4 Network Installation Instructions A network installation should be completed by a network administrator or someone who has administrator rights. There should only be one installation in the network. Each workstation will be connected to this installation through shortcuts. There should not be any local installations in individual workstations. 1.4.1 MAPPING TO A SHARED NETWORK DRIVE Before you can install the software, you will need to map to a network drive. Mapping is the term used to define the process of telling the software how to get to the correct network location when it is being installed. The following section explains the four steps that you will need to complete in order to map to your network drive. Step 1 Go to the start menu and 'Right click on Computer or My Computer. Select Map Network Drive. Step 2 Choose a "Drive" letter. You must choose a drive letter that is not already in use on your network. Enter the Folder that you wish to map to. Make sure to enter \\ An example is listed in the window. Make sure the Reconnect at logon box is checked and then click Finish.
3 Step 3 Make sure to switch the drive letter from "C" to the one you chose in step 3 of the Network Installation Instructions. (The example above used the Z: Drive). Click OK Now that you have mapped to the Network Drive you can use the installation wizard to complete the installation. The steps for the InstallShield Wizard are listed below: Step 1 When you download 1099Convey on to your computer a wizard will automatically begin and will walk you through the entire installation process. Click on Next
4 Step 2 The window will now show the Convey License Agreement. Read the License Agreement. Click to Accept Then click on Next Step 3 The Choose Destination window will open. The destination automatically defaults to the C: Drive. You will need to click on Change. A Destination Window will open. Select the shared network drive that you chose in step 4 of the Preparation section. Click OK Step 4 The Choose Destination will appear again, with the selected location in the window. Click on Next
5 A Setup Status window will show you the progress of the installation. Step 5 Once the InstallShield Wizard is Complete, Click on Finish Step 6 The program will automatically open, and you will be asked to provide two numbers, your License Number and your CID Number. Note: Each year, a new license code is provided, after your company has purchased the software for the current tax year. If you do not have your license number for the current tax year, contact the support department
6 1.4.2 INSTRUCTIONS FOR INSTALLING ON NETWORKED USERS COMPUTERS In order to provide access to the other users, you will need to complete the following steps on each user s computer: Step 1 Open the Windows Start Menu and click on "Computer" Then locate the program folder you chose in the Step 1, above. Step 2 Right click on that folder and choose "Map Network Drive". Step 3 Choose the same "Drive" letter that you selected in Step 4 of the previous section. Then Click Finish
7 Step 4 Go to the "My Computer" icon on the desktop. You will see your new "Drive" letter and you can now double click on it and the Convey folder to locate the CNV32.exe program file. Step 5 Right click on the CNV32.exe program file and choose "Create Shortcut". Step 6 Move the shortcut to the desired location on the computer (usually to the Desktop).
