PART ONE VBOX INSTALL AND FILE STAGING You will be given a location / link to download the necessary files (vbox.dmg and EHR.zip) from. Once you obtain these files, locate where they are saved (usually Downloads ), and double click the EHR.zip file. The contents will be expanded to the current folder: Your downloads folder should now have (at least, depending on whatever else is already in the folder) the following three items: the files EHR.zip and vbox.dmg, and the folder IE for EHR. Now double click the vbox.dmg file. It should open up a new window: Double click on the icon listed under number one to begin the vbox installation. You will then see the following:

2 Select continue. Now at the next prompt, accept the default and just continue: You should then see the following, and are ready to select the install button:

3 The next prompt will be asking for an administrator account if you are not currently using one marked as such. Enter any necessary information and continue:

4 The installation should proceed normally, and once successful you will see this final dialog: Installation is done. Select close. You can now eject the vbox.dmg file and delete it from the Downloads folder, you are finished with it. Now you will need to move the IE for EHR subfolder to somewhere else on your mac drive. Do not move it to the desktop or leave it in your Downloads folder. Preferably place it under Documents. Now open this folder, and proceed to part 2 of the installation (next page).

5 PART TWO FIRST RUN / WORKING SNAPSHOT CREATION Looking inside the IE for EHR folder that was just moved, you should see several files: The file you will want to select and double click is the IE for EHR.vbox. Once you double click the file, virtualbox should open and present with the following dialog:

6 We will now create an alias to this on the desktop (this will just make a shortcut so you can quickly start everything from the desktop later). From the menu at the top of the screen, choose machine / create alias A shortcut should appear on your desktop that says IE for EHR : You can now click the red x to close the vbox program. Proceed to the next page.

7 Locate the IE for EHR shortcut on the desktop and double click it. Windows should now start up! After about one minute, it should be finished and waiting at the internet explorer screen:

8 You will now need to take a snapshot of the current Windows XP state to finalize the install and allow for quick startup. Locate the Machine menu item at the very top of the screen and select take snapshot. Allow about one minute for this process to finish. It does not matter what you name the snapshot, the easiest thing to do is accept the default name of snapshot 1. Almost done with this part of the instructions. Now we will close virtualbox, and set the snapshot to start the next time we open the Windows box. You can either click the red X at the top left of the window, use the quit shortcut key, or select the VirtualBox VM from the menu at the top of the screen and choose quit: You will then see the following dialog:

9 Make sure that power off is selected and restore is checked, and choose ok. The windows should close and you should now be back at the desktop. You are now finished with the initial Windows setup. You may also delete the EHR.zip file from the Downloads folder as you will no longer need it. See the next page for directions on everyday use of the EHR.

10 PART THREE: EVERYDAY USE Whenever you need to access the EHR system, just start the Windows/IE environment by double clicking on the IE for EHR shortcut you created on the desktop. The system should open right to the internet explorer window and be ready for use. The shortcut to the EHR website is near the top of the Internet explorer screen; Just click on it to access the website: When you are finished, all you have to do is close the virtualbox window (using the red x at the top left, or the application menu/quit, or the mac shortcut key to quit) and make sure that power off and restore snapshot is always selected:

11 View options: Experiment with the view options as you wish. You can keep the IE environment in the normal mac window, or use fullscreen, or seamless mode. Seamless mode basically allows both desktops to be visible at once. It s your preference.
