4 Installation & Configuration Requirements: Teranex Remote Control software is compatible with Windows NT, 2000, XP Pro, 98 and 95 Operating Systems. This software permits remote control of the applications running on the Teranex Video Computer. Users may connect their Windows computer directly to the RJ45 Ethernet connector on the rear panel of the Video Computer using an Ethernet rollover cable; or, users may insert the Video Computer into an existing network. Instructions For stand-alone installations connected directly to your PC, install a rollover Ethernet cable between your PC s Ethernet port and the Video Processing Platform s RJ45 connector. For installation into an existing network, go to the START-UP menu by exiting your current application or by restarting your Video Processing Platform. Next, touch "Set Ethernet IP Address." Using the GUI s soft keyboard, enter the IP address assigned by your system administrator, prefixing each unfilled octet with zeros (e.g would become ). Touch OK. Insert the Teranex Remote Control Software CDROM into your computer s CDROM drive. Installation usually begins automatically, utilizing the InstallShield Wizard. If the wizard does not begin, or if Auto-run is disabled on your computer, click on the Windows Start menu, then Run, then enter the following file name: D:\TeranexVideoComputerControllerSoftware.exe (where D: is the drive designation of your computer s CDROM drive). Click OK. When installation begins, you will see a Welcome screen. Click Next to continue. A dialog box will prompt you for optional customer information. Click Next to continue. For stand-alone installations, the default IP address is for 3RU and 6RU platforms and for 2RU platforms. For networked systems, enter the IP address assigned by your system administrator in step 2. Click Next to continue. Choose the destination folder where the software should be installed on your computer. You may use the default folder (C:\Program Files\Teranex\Video Computer Software), or a path of your choosing. Click Next. Click Next again to confirm the folder to use. You may click Back to change the install folder. When installation is complete, a Shortcut named Video Computer Remote Control will have been placed on your Windows desktop. You may rename the icon if desired. To do so, right mouse click on the icon, select Rename, and type the new name of the icon. Double click on the desktop Shortcut to launch the remote control software. If the IP address you entered is found, the GUI of the Video Computer will be displayed. Navigate the GUI with your mouse, as you would use your finger on the unit s touch screen. If the IP address is not found, an error message will be displayed after a few seconds. 5 Desktop Icon Target The Target in the icon properties is normally configured during installation. There may, however be some occasions when the properties need to be changed. If the IP address of the platform has been changed, then the IP address in the Target line must be updated as well. For default installations the Target looks like this: "C:\Program Files\Teranex\Video Computer Software\Remote.exe" -t u -n2 If you wish to control a 2RU platform then the IP address must be set manually for the Target. In addition a parameter (-h240) must be added which tells the phindows applications to use a reduced window size, which corresponds to the half height display used on the 2RU. For 2RU installations, the Target should be set as shown: "C:\Program Files\Teranex\Video Computer Software\Remote.exe" -t u h240 n15 To uninstall this application Reinsert this CDROM into your computer s CDROM drive and follow the instructions in the auto run program to remove the application.
