MAJOR INFRASTRUCTURE WORKS LED BY SPANISH COMPANIES DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF THE HIGH-SPEED RAILWAY LINE BETWEEN MECCA AND MEDINA, INCLUDING 35 TRAINS AND AN OPTION TO PURCHASE ANOTHER 23, AND MAINTENANCE FOR A 12-YEAR RENEWABLE PERIOD. Spanish firms enjoy a high level of international prestige, bringing their pioneering know-how to many major projects, spanning the globe. Today, Spanish companies are involved in the most important infrastructure projects in the world, with a presence in 85 countries on six continents, and managing 38% of the world's principal transport concessions. Spain is a worldwide reference, in such fields as air and land transport management, railway infrastructure, and public works. ACS ranks number-one among the world's top 250 contractors, as measured in exports figures 1 (top international), and fourth in terms of total production (top global). Spain is number-one in the world in transport infrastructure management, in terms of number of concessions of highways, railways, airports, and ports under construction and/or exploitation 2, a category which also comprises GLOBAL VIA-FCC (2nd), ABERTIS (4th), FERROVIAL/CINTRA (7th), in addition to SACYR (11th), ACCIONA/NECSO (15th), ISOLUX CORSAN (35th) and ITINERE (37th). By capital invested in 2013 3, FERROVIAL/CINTRA ranks number-one worldwide, followed by ACS (HOCHTIEF+IRIDIUM) (2nd), SACYR (7th), GLOBAL VIA-FCC (8th) and OHL (9th). Other Spanish companies are also among the top 50 in the world, as measured by their export rankings: FCC, OHL, ABEINSA, TECNICAS REUNIDAS, ISOLUX CORSAN, ACCIONA and SACYR 4. COMSA, IBERDROLA, SAN JOSE and SENER also stand out in the international rankings. This importance is reflected in the following data: F Today, Spanish companies boast a portfolio of international projects that tops 74 billion. In 2013 alone, Spanish companies won contracts abroad to the tune of more than 35 billion. F At present, 82% 5 of our companies' portfolios comprises contracts abroad.
