Cheyenne High School Class of 2016 Senior Information Important Information It is the philosophy of the Clark County School District and Cheyenne High School that graduates should be honored with commencement ceremonies that are solemn and dignified. For this reason, we respectfully request spectators and graduates to act accordingly.
Tickets Admission to the ceremony is by ticket only. Graduates will receive 8 guest tickets, for family or close friends, at the rehearsal on June 2nd. The extra tickets request form will be available Wednesday, May 25 th in room 412. Seniors who do not attend the senior meeting and rehearsal will not receive tickets and will not participate in the ceremony. Cameras Cameras are not allowed on the stage during the ceremony. While video cameras, as well as other types of cameras, are allowed in the seating area, we ask that you remain seated for picture taking during the ceremony and do not attempt to stand at the bleacher railing for photos. Handicapped Seating Students needing special seating will receive assistance by the Cheyenne High School staff. The Orleans Arena will have wheelchair ramps available to access the stage. Diploma Distribution During the ceremony, students receive a diploma cover from a school district dignitary and personal congratulations extended to each student by the principal. The actual diploma will be distributed immediately following the ceremony.
ANSWERS TO FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS 1. When do I pick up my cap and gown? You may pick up your cap and gown April 12 th during both lunches in the theater lobby. 2. How many tickets will I receive and when do I receive them? You will receive 8 tickets at the ceremony rehearsal on Thursday, June 2 th at 8:45 a.m. Following the senior breakfast at 8:00 a.m. 3. How can I get additional tickets? Additional tickets may be requested on a first come first serve basis. Please complete and return the Commencement Ticket Request form by 5/26/16. Tickets will be available in Office 412. (702) 799-4830 ext. 4206, 6:30AM 10:00AM and 11:00 AM 2:00PM. 4. Do graduates need tickets? No. Your cap and gown admits you to the ceremony. 5. Are parents allowed in the line-up area? No. Extra persons are prohibited from being in the area.
6. Are photographers allowed near the stage or in the area where graduates are seated? No. All family photographs should be taken either before or after the ceremony. Professional photographers will take a photo of each graduate. 7. Is there a place to keep purses and other items during the ceremony? No. Participants should carry nothing but their line-up card and other school authorized items when they line up for the ceremony. 8. Can my parents give me flowers or gifts as I receive my diploma? No. You may receive gifts following the ceremony. 9. What time should I be at the Orleans for the ceremony? 2 pm. 10. Where do I park? The Orleans Arena in door parking garage.
FINES All senior fines must be paid to complete Senior Check-Out. Pay outstanding fines to the school banker. SENIOR CHECKLIST Cap and gown ordered-if not order on line at www.lvgrads.com. Questions? Call Jostens at 702-384-3300. If you have not picked up your senior grad items (except your cap and gown) and owe a balance on your order you will need to contact Jostens at 702-384-3300. Caps and gown will be distributed during both lunches on April 12 th. Eight ceremony tickets will be given to each senior on April 12 th. Pay outstanding fines to banker. All fines must be paid prior to 5/23/16. Get scholarship information from your counselor. Report scholarship offers, college/university enrollment acceptances, military enlistment and other programs acceptance to the counselor s office for recognition in the Senior Awards Night and commencement programs. DO NOT LOSE YOUR LINE UP CARD FOR THE CEREMONY. COME TO SCHOOL EVERYDAY! Excessive absences will cause loss of credit and prohibit your participation in the graduation ceremony.
STUDENT BEHAVIOR Students who do not exhibit appropriate behavior before and during the ceremony will be immediately removed from the graduate seating area by school personnel or CCSD school police. Inappropriate behavior would include but not limited to, drug or alcohol abuse, inappropriate language, possession of nuisance items, and violations of dress code. The diploma of any student removed will be withheld pending an appointment with the school principal. Demeanor of Spectators In the interest of a memorable, dignified occasion for both participants and spectators, we request the following socially acceptable commencement ceremony etiquette: Sit only in the spectator seating area. Listen politely and attentively to speakers. Please do not bring signs, noisemakers, balloons, or distracting objects of any kind to the ceremony. They will be confiscated until after the ceremony. We ask that guests show respect for each senior by refraining from catcalls, whistles, other verbal noises including excessive shouting or screaming names of seniors, especially during the diploma distribution. IF SUCH EXCESSIVE SHOUTING OCCURS, THE OFFICIAL DIPLOMA OF THAT STUDENT WILL BE WITHHELD PENDING AN APPOINTNENT WITH PRINCIPAL.
Student Attire Caps and gowns for the ceremony will be given to the seniors. Students in violation of the dress code will not be permitted to participate in the ceremony. The following dress code will be strictly enforced. Girls Dress, skirt or dress pants and blouse and dress shoes. Boys Dress pants, dress shirt (with collar), tie preferred, and dress shoes. NO T-shirts, shorts, jeans, flip-flops, gym/tennis shoes of any kind for boys or girls. Seniors should NOT bring purses, handbags, or backpacks to the ceremony. It is not appropriate to carry handbags during ceremony and there is NO storage available. Do NOT bring electronic devices (cell phones, cameras, ipod, etc.,) to the ceremony. They will be confiscated and returned following the ceremony.
