The Speakers Roland A. Pfister Tavernier Tschanz studied law at the Universities of Neuchâtel and Granada. After the completion of his law degree, he worked for an international law firm in Belgium and a leading investment bank in Zurich, after which he joined the tax department of oneofthe"bigfour"firms.in2008,hestartedtoworkon his doctoral thesis. In addition, he has an Executive MBA in Wealth Management and was a Visiting Researcher at Harvard Law School. In 2011, he started working as a Tax Advisor at Tavernier Tschanz in Geneva. He is a regular contributor to tax journals, and lectures frequently at Universities as well as postgraduate tax programs. His main areas of expertise include Swiss, Liechtenstein and International tax laws for individuals and corporations including funds, trusts and foundations. Ernst J. Walch Walch & Schurti is senior partner of Walch & Schurti, one of Liechtenstein's foremost law practices (linked with a renowned trustee company providing services to international companies and high-wealth individuals). His firm has extensive litigation experience and is an acknowledged leading player in the commercial litigation field in Liechtenstein. He is admitted both in New York and in Liechtenstein, where he has practiced since 1984. He also pursued a political career, being a member of the Liechtenstein parliament from 1989 to 1996, president of the parliament in 1993 and minister of foreign affairs from 2001 to 2005. He is a regular contributor to international journals, and lectures frequently at conferences. Eduardo O. Meloni, Tax Advisor Tax Advisor / Universidad Torcuato Di Tella is an independent advisor specialized in International Tax. Until recently he served as an in-house International Tax Counsel at Tenaris SA, a Luxembourgresident company with extensive business in Latin America. Before joining Tenaris, Eduardo had an extensive career with the tax departments of Big Four firms, as well as the acting as Head of the Latin American Team with the International Bureau of Fiscal Documentation in Amsterdam. He is a regular contributor to tax journals and lectures regularly on postgraduate tax courses. Eduardo has a degree in Accounting from the University of Buenos Aires, an LL.M. in International Taxation from the University of Leiden (NL) and a Master of Laws from Leicester University (UK). Dr. Ramona Piscopo PiscoPartners has extensive experience in international tax structuring. After working as an international tax lawyer in Malta, Amsterdam and Geneva, Ramona is currently based in Zurich and is a founding partner of PiscoPartners, a law firm with offices in Malta and Switzerland. Ramona specialises in group reorganisations, tax-structuring of multinational enterprises from all industry sectors and the structuring and set-up of investment funds. Ramona is a lecturer at the University of Neuchatel's LL.M. programme and an examiner on Tax Law at the University of Malta. She regularly speaks at tax conferences and has published a number of articles and chapters. She is admitted to the Maltese Bar, the Superior Courts of Malta, and is a member of the Tax Expert group of FinanceMalta. Prof. avv. Guglielmo Maisto Partner Maisto e Associati graduated in law from the University of Genoa and obtained a diploma in European law at the University of Amsterdam. He is the founding partner of Maisto e Associati, a tax firm based in Milan, Rome and London. He is professor of tax law at the Universita' Cattolica del S. Cuore in Piacenza, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the International Bureau of Fiscal Documentation in Amsterdam and a member of the Permanent Scientific Committee of the International Fiscal Association. He has authored several books and publications on taxation and sits on the editorial board of several tax journals Vikram Chand University of Neuchatel started his career with Ernst & Young India s tax practice in 2005. At EY, he advised high net worth individuals, and multinational and domestic companies on structuring crossborder transactions, devising transfer pricing strategies, conceptualizing business restructurings and making representations before tax authorities. In 2010, he graduated with an Advanced Masters in International Tax Law from Leiden, Netherlands. Currently he is the academic coordinator of the Executive MAS in International Taxation Program offered by the University of Neuchatel wherein he coordinates the program and lectures regularly on different international tax topics. Additionally, he speaks at several universities and conferences and is undertaking a doctorate in tax law.
The Speakers Michel Collet CMS Bureau Francis Lefebvre studied international tax law at Paris XI/HEC (France). He started his career at CMS Bureau Francis Lefebvre from 1993 5 to 1999 before joining Linklaters Paris and London. From 2002 to 2007, he headed the tax practice of the New York office of CMS Bureau Francis Lefebvre. Since 2007, he is with the international tax group of the firm in Paris. Michel specialized in international transactions and structuring for banks, investment funds, and public groups. He also advises high net worth individuals in an international context. Michel also represents clients in audits and tax disputes. Michel is an active member of American Bar Association, International Bar Association, and IFA (coreporter for France in 2010). He chairs the Carbon Finance working group and fiducie tax group of Paris EUROPLACE. Mario Petriccione KPMG LLP grew up in Naples (Italy) and studied Economics at Trinity College, Cambridge University, from which he graduated in 1979. He joined the London office of Peat Marwick Mitchell &Co (a predecessor firm of KPMG) in 1980, qualifying as a Chartered Accountant 1n 1982 and as a Chartered Tax Adviser in 1982. He specializes in advising companies on the tax aspects of cross-border transactions including M&As, internal reorganizations and financing, and business structuring, with special emphases on China, India and Brazil. He is the author of numerous articles on international tax matters and is a coauthor of 'Fundamentals of International Tax '. He is a visiting lecturer at Leiden University, at the Brazilian Tax Law Institute (BR) and at Said Business School (UK). Prof. Dr. Martin Wenz University of Liechtenstein holds the chair for Tax Management and the Laws of International and Liechtenstein Taxation, Head of the Institute for Financial Services and a Member of the Management Board at the University of Liechtenstein. He was educated at the Universities of Mannheim and Munich and was a Research Fellow at the Universities of Cambridge, Oxford and the LSE. He has professional experience as a tax manager with KPMG in the Frankfurt office. He is chairman of the Liechtenstein working group of tax experts and gives advice to the Liechtenstein Government. He has published a number of books and numerous articles in the fields of national, European and international taxation and has given various speeches on these subjects. Andrio Orler Tavernier Tschanz graduated in law from the University of Zurich and obtained an LL.M. in international taxation from the University of New York. He is a partner of Tavernier Tschanz, a tax firm based in Geneva. He specializes in advising private clients and companies on the tax aspects of cross-border transactions including M&As, internal reorganizations and financing. He is a lecturer on International Taxation at the University of Neuchatel and Lausanne and regularly speaks at international tax conferences. Andrio has published a number of articles and chapters in the field of International tax law. He is also Chairman of the tax chapter of the Swiss- American Chamber of Commerce. Prof. Dr. Joâo Dâcio Rolim Rolim Vitotti & Leite Campos graduated in Law from the University of São Paulo (USP), has an LL.M. in International Tax Law from the London School of Economics (LSE) and a PhD in Tax Law from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG). He is a tax lecturer at the Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV SP and Rio) and a Researcher in International Trade Law, Taxation and Human Rights at Queen Mary, University of London. He started his tax career at KPMG and PWC and founded in 1993 the law firm Rolim, Viotti & Leite Campos, with 5 offices in Brazil and one in Lisbon (Portugal). His expertise is on international taxation in Brazil and he also deals with complex litigation tax cases. He is Director of the AIBAT (Iberian-American Tax Arbitration Association) and of the IFA Brazilian branch (ABDF). Daria Zernova UBS studied law at St. Petersburg State University (Russia) and graduated from Leiden University (the Netherlands) with an LL.M. degree in International Tax Law. She started her legal career at the American law firm Chadbourne & Parke LLP after which she joined Mannheimer Swartling, the leading business law firm in the Nordic region. She advised Russian and multinational companies on a variety of regulatory, corporate, commercial, transfer pricing and tax matters and assists corporate and individual clients in tax restructuring and international tax planning transactions. In 2011, she joined the Wealth Management arm of the leading Swiss bank, where her focus remains Russian and international tax law.
