Daylight Visualizer

Good architecture deserves Daylight Visualizer Key features VELUX Daylight Visualizer is a professional simulation tool for the analysis of daylight conditions in buildings. It is intended to promote the use of daylight in buildings and to aid professionals by predicting and documenting daylight levels and appearance of a space prior to realization of the building design. The Daylight Visualizer s simple user interface makes it accessible, quick and easy-to-use. How is it different? The main difference between Daylight Visualizer and commonly used CAD programs is that it permits you to accurately simulate and quantify daylight levels in the interiors, whereas standard CAD programs only perform 3D renderings without information about the quantity and quality of daylight in the space. With Daylight Visualizer you can take informed decisions about daylight performance in your architectural design. Experienced team of experts VELUX Daylight Visualizer is developed by LUXION in collaboration with the VELUX Group. LUXION has specialized in technology advancing state-of-the-art in rendering and computer based lighting simulations. LUXION has expert knowledge in areas related to rendering technology, light scattering, light transport algorithms such as photon mapping, and spectral simulation. Any project, any scale You can use Daylight Visualizer to evaluate daylight conditions in any type of projects, including residential, commercial and industrial projects of any scale. Photo-realistic and false colour images Visualize and quantify the amount and distribution of daylight in buildings with false colour and photorealistic images. Daylight factor calculation Daylight factor (DF) is a one step simulation and the most commonly used performance indicator to evaluate daylight availability in buildings. Results report Generate a report with simulation results presenting the daylight performance by zone for each room/space in the building. Create/import projects Use the embedded modeling tool to generate 3D models in which roof and facade windows can be freely inserted. Or simply import 3D models directly from your CAD program Autocad, Revit, SketchUp, Archicad and more) with the following supported 3D file formats DWG, DXF, SKP and OBJ. Easy-to-use The Daylight Visualizer simple user interface makes it easy-to-use and accessible, with the help of a progress bar and step-by-step instructions, for any professional working in the building industry. Fast and accurate Daylight Visualizer is a validated daylight simulation tool 2 based on state-of-the-art rendering technology capable of simulating the complex character of daylight in building interiors. A professional tool for projects of any scale Siemens Company House Ballerup, Denmark Arkitema Architects Daylight Visualizer can be used to evaluate a wide range of building types, from small to large scale, and has no restriction as regards the complexity of geometry used in imported models. Careful daylight planning in office buildings can result in significant energy savings on electrical lighting, which can account for up to 40% of the energy consumed in an office. With Daylight Visualizer you can make sure there is good daylight availability in all key areas of your projects. The next page shows how the section view is used to evaluate the spread of daylight in the rooms and atrium space of the building. Sunlighthouse Pressbaum, Austria Hein-Troy Architects Validate daylight performance in buildings Sunlighthouse is one of the Model Home 2020 demonstration projects realized by the VELUX Group in the recent years. As part of the Model Home 2020, the house had to meet specific requirements for daylight conditions in the main inhabited rooms, and the design team had to evaluate the daylight factor levels in order to validate the performance. Daylight Visualizer was the recommended tool to validate the daylight conditions and provided the professionals involved with an accessible, robust and easy-to-use simulation tool permitting them to take informed decision on the daylighting performance of the house without limiting or putting constraints on the design process. Photo: Adam Mørk Significant improvements of daylight through small refinements It s important to consider daylighting conditions in the early phase of a building design. Daylight in buildings is strongly influenced by the envelope design, as well as the proportions of the building geometry, the context and the surroundings on the site. Solhuset kindergarten Hørsholm, Denmark CCO Architects Daylight Visualizer is a powerful tool to develop ideas for natural light in buildings. The integrated process between design and daylight simulation has enabled us to refine the experience of daylight in the interior spaces in a way that was previously impossible. Andreas Michelsen, CCO Architects (DK) In this project, Daylight Visualizer was used to validate the daylight conditions of a kindergarten project during the preliminary design phase. This enabled a significant improvement of the daylight distribution in key rooms through small refinements of the building envelope, window distribution and lining construction that resulted in big gains for the daylight conditions and the occupants. Improving daylight conditions can help significantly to revitalize the use of a space and improve the comfort and well-being of the occupants. Daylight Visualizer can be used to perform before and after comparisons of the daylight conditions in the building interiors, which help to guide the design process towards the right solutions. This kindergarten project had a flat roof without any windows or skylights before the intervention. CASA architects used VELUX Modular Skylights to add daylight in the project s key areas and provide the children with bright interior spaces.
