1. Nationwide Secure Email This is an internet based email system which is used by external recipients to communicate securely with people in Nationwide Building Society. For further information on Secure Email please visit the Nationwide Secure Email internet site www.nationwide.co.uk/pgp/. If you have problems with this system please contact the person who sent you the email. Once you have set up the account you will be able to access your emails. For guidance on using the secure email system please see the Secure Email User guide which is available at www.nationwide.co.uk/pgp/secure_email_user_guide 2. Setting up Secure Email. Step 1: You will receive an email in your normal In box notifying you that you have received an email using the Nationwide Secure Email System. You will need to contact the Nationwide employee who sent you the email in order to obtain your Passphrase. Due to Nationwide s security policies they will not be able to email the Passphrase and will need to speak to you on the telephone. Below is an example of the first email which you will receive from a Nationwide employee notifying you that you have a secure email: From: Andrew Whitehouse [mailto:andrew.whitehouse@nationwide.co.uk] Sent: 14 November 2007 16:18 To: andrew.whitehouse@xxxxxxxx.com Subject: Nationwide Secure Email - Secured Message You have received a Nationwide Secure Email Message from: Andrew Whitehouse <Andrew.Whitehouse@nationwide.co.uk> Access to this message requires that you know the passphrase set by the sender.
