STRUCTURE OF THE COURSE This unique course will be delivered over a period of twelve months with lectures at our training centre in Cairns and at an overseas venue. Lectures will also be available via live webinars, with recordings, for those students who are not able to attend the face-to-face lectures in Cairns. In this course you will learn how to profile international markets and forecast international markets and business needs. You will learn how to develop a business plan, prepare project plans, manage people performance and promote products and services to international markets. You will participate in a guided international mission to Port Moresby, where you will experience first-hand the techniques for building international business networks and client relationships. COURSE COSTS This unique course requires an investment of $16,700, including the guided international business mission (PNG travel, medical, visas, accommodation and meals at participant s cost). BSB50815 Diploma of International Business Course Structure To be awarded the nationally recognised Diploma of International Business, students must successfully complete a total of eight units of study, comprising: BSBMKG516 Profile international markets required to select and confirm an appropriate international market. BSBMKG512 Forecast international market and business needs required to gather intelligence about the target international market and to use that information in the business. BSBREL501 Build international client relationships required to build effective international client relationships. This unit applies to individuals with managerial responsibility for building, maintaining and improving effective relationships with international clients including building interpersonal communication strategies. This managerial responsibility also includes analysing, identifying and applying culturally appropriate communication strategies with these clients. BSBREL502 Build international business networks required to build international business networks. This unit applies to individuals with managerial responsibility for setting up, maintaining and reviewing participation in international business networks to benefit the business and its clients in a culturally appropriate way. BSBMGT617 Develop and implement a business plan This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to run a business operation and covers the steps required to develop and implement a business plan. It applies to individuals who are running an organisation or who take a senior role in determining the effective functioning and success of the organisation. As such, they may oversee the work of a number of teams and other managers. BSBPMG522 Undertake project work This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to undertake a straightforward project or a section of a larger project. It covers developing a project plan, administering and monitoring the project, finalising the project and reviewing the project to identify lessons learned for application to future projects. This unit applies to individuals who play a significant role in ensuring a project meets timelines, quality standards, budgetary limits and other requirements set for the project. BSBMKG513 Promote products and services to international markets required to promote products and/or services of the business within specified international markets. BSBMGT502 Manage people performance required to manage the performance of staff who report to them directly. Development of key result areas and key performance indicators and standards, coupled with regular and timely coaching and feedback, provide the basis for performance management. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Q1. How is the course delivered? Blended delivery; on enrolment, you will get access to your ecampus course materials, textbook and workbooks. Q2. Do I get my course materials in a hard copy? Yes. The material is available online and as hard copies. Q3. How long will it take me to complete the course? You will have 12 months from the last face-to-face lecture to complete your qualification. In addition to attending the workshops and trade mission, to complete the Diploma we recommend that you schedule 8 to 10 hours per week for study and assignments. Q4. How will I be assessed for competency? There are various assessment requirements throughout the course dependent upon the context of each unit. In most cases you will be required to submit assignments that demonstrate your knowledge and competency. The assignments may consist of essays and question and answers or they may require you to complete workplace projects. You will be given clear guidance during your lectures and in webinars on how to complete your assignments. If you are ever unsure of the volume of work with your essays or projects, simply send what you have done to your trainer. The trainer will provide guidance if more is require Q5. I have completed some management courses in the past/have experience working as a leader/manager; can I seek Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)? Yes you can seek RPL. Simply ask your enrolment coordinator for the Student RPL Package. The Student RPL Package is designed to take you step-by-step through the requirements for applying for RPL. Q7. What is McLeod Training Organisation s refund policy? Students are entitled to a full refund if McLeod Training Organisation cancels a course or fails to make training materials available within a reasonable timeframe. Refunds will not be given for any of the following reasons: Failure to attend a scheduled training session Non-completion of assessment activities Change of mind about a course, or, Other circumstances beyond our control. No refund will be given if a student has been enrolled in an online or distance course for more than one (1) month. If a student decides to cancel the course for any of the reasons above and has paid in full, a student will not be eligible for refund. If a student decides to cancel the course for any of the reasons above and is on a monthly payment plan, a student is still responsible for making payments in full.
