Month, comes to a close I would our Florida District is to this organization and all the other branches of Kiwanis. As many of you have seen, we successfully spammed Facebook with cover photos showing our dedication to all branches of Kiwanis. From our district 9 people (pictured on the right) were able to attend Kiwanis Family Conference in North Carolina, a weekend dedicated to bringing all the branches of Kiwanis 8. A Request From FLACKI together in fellowship and leader- 9. Birthdays! effort in celebrating this month, ship. Some schools made an extra University of South Florida having a joint DCM and beach clean-up, and University of Central Florida having a K-family dinner with all the branches of Kiwanis. Thank you for all of those who participated! As we approach the deathly weeks of finals keep in mind the great progress you have made this semester in growing as a servant leader, serving your community, and making memories with other CKIers. Keep the spirit going as we enter last month of 2015, and make the best of it. Wishing you all a safe and wonderful Holiday Season!!! -Kapers Editor The Official Florida District Newsletter Volume 46, Issue 4

Thank you to all of you who came out to one of our Fall District Large Scale Service Projects! They were successful because of all of you! On October 24th we had a project in both Hollywood and Gainesville. In Hollywood we cleaned up John Williams Park and we managed to do almost all of it! And in Gainesville we cleaned up Kiwanis Challenge Park, where we also made a large difference. Finally on November 21st we had a project in Tampa at Big Cat Rescue. We were able to help them with two different projects they were working on. Half of the participants worked on cleaning out a lion cage, and the other half helped clear a path for an above ground tunnel for the smaller cats. All three of these events couldn t have happened without all of you! I had a blast, and I hope you all did too! - Ashley Hale, Projects Chair 2

This semester has been a busy one for the Citrus Division to say the least! We have had many projects going on from all of our schools. Palm Beach State has been very busy showing off their CKI passion serving at the Suicide Prevention Walk. Stetson has stepped up to serve others at the Interfaith Kitchen and help people without much food by hosting a PB&J-athon. South Florida State College channeled their inner zombies while serving at a 5K Zombie Run. The University of Central Florida came together to defeat and recycle old mattresses at the Mustard Seed as mattress warriors. Both UCF and PBSC have been collecting and sorting bottle caps for Caps of Love to provide new wheel chairs and aids to those with disabilities that cannot afford them; great minds think alike! We can t forget that there are new and reactivated clubs coming to our division from the University of Miami, Florida International University and Broward College Central. Our clubs had a great presence at not one, but two District Large Scale Service Projects this semester working to support the Governor s Project: removing invasive plant species. I can t say how proud I am of all of our clubs in the division for working on these projects as well as so many others. You all are really Wild About Service! -Katie Pope Citrus LTG Greetings everyone from your Suncoast Lieutenant Governor! Where has time gone? It seems like just yesterday the 2015-2016 CKI year started. We ve done so much this year already, but the most exciting news is about growth. This year we are our own division and it s something that I am very excited about. We have two active clubs in our division; New College of Florida and Florida Southwestern Collier (who chartered at the end of the last academic year) and I am thrilled to announce that our division will grow again. In fact, we have 2 new clubs that will be applying for a charter soon; Florida Gulf Coast and University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee. At this stage the clubs of our division are focusing on their growth by gaining and maintaining membership. Everyone can help support in club building. Be helpful and bring in new members. That being said, if you are interested in supporting the Suncoast Division you can do so by wearing some awesome sunglasses (pictured to the left), please let me know if you need a pair. Another way to support your fellow CKIers is to share ideas. So, if you have any fabulous marketing ideas, which I m sure you do, please let me, or the clubs around you know. Attending District events is another way to be helpful. We ve had members for New College, Florida Southwestern, and Florida Gulf Coast in attendance at District events this year. We may be small at the moment, but I have great hopes for the future of our clubs and our division. Remember, a growing strong division means a growing stronger district. Hope everyone has a fabulous "winter" break. FGCU Beach Clean-Up -Phoebe Sartori Suncoast LTG 3

Dear Florida Circle K Members, Congratulations to Mary Stack and Jacqualynn Drummond on being the winners of the 2015 Uncle Don and Sophie Laval Scholarship! We are all proud of all their hard work and dedication to making our communities better! As more scholarships become available throughout the year, I will let you all know! More kudos to our club treasurers on getting dues in! The winners of the pizza party will be announced once we have received an official list of the clubs who achieved early bird dues. Thus far Florida Southwestern, Florida State, Palm Beach State, Stetson University, University of Central Florida, University of South Florida, and University of West Florida for getting your dues in. Congratulations to University of Florida for having 96 paid dues members and congrats to Florida State for being the first to submit their dues! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call me! Have a happy and safe holiday season, Jackie Aranibar 4

Florida District Recruitment Board Competition Recruitment Boards are great ways to advertise your home club, while also raising awareness of what Circle K International is. These can be used at fairs, tabling, meetings, and any events in which the organization is advertised. It is important for all boards to meet the standards set from Circle K International, keeping a consistency with design, while representing the organization in a professional way. The goal of this competition is to create or update recruitment boards for all chapters in Florida, in order to maintain the proper image of CKI and attract new members in a visual way. Thank you to our judges: Amanda Saquil, Celia Earle, Gary Frechette, and Tod d Smith. The second place winner was Florida Gulf Coast University, with University of South Florida coming in third. Thank you for participating, it was a close competition. The winner who will receive 50$ for their club, and bragging rights is: CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! 6

District Convention (DCON) is a weekend packed with activities, workshops, speeches, dances, games, volunteer projects, and much more. This years theme is FLACKI taking on the safari! DCON encompasses all that is CKI; fellowship, service, and leadership. During this weekend you can advance as a leader by attending workshops for your officer position, running for a district position, or choosing a leader yourself. If you want to make friends from all the CKI clubs in Florida this is the perfect opportunity to have a blast with like-minded servant leaders. This weekend is the best way to really see what this organization is all about and the huge impact it has throughout. Do not let the price deter you from going as most clubs will support a portion of it and scholarships are available (ask your club president for more details). This is a fun filled weekend made for every CKI member to grow, learn, and have fun! DON T MISS OUT! *Contact Shannon Feeney for more info at: conventions@floridacirclek.org 7
