1. Network connection Connect mygekko Touch to the network The mygekko Touch is connected to the home network router via a LAN network cable. If the router is WiFi-capable, you can also access using WiFi-capable devices, like iphone, ipad etc. Connection via Ethernet Interface LAN mygekko Touch iphone/ipad/... router Computer/Laptop ADSL/Internet 4
2. Network settings Setting of the IP address Change to the network settings on your mygekko. Assign the mygekko a unique, free IP address and subnet mask. CAUTION: Check in the router configuration which address range and which subnet mask is used in your home network. Typically, it is possible to set the router s IP address for the gateway and the nameserver (DNS). In our example: IP address: 192.168.2.103 (address of the mygekko Touch) Netmask: 255.255.255.0 (subnetmask of the home network) Gateway: 192.168.2.1 (address of the router) Nameserver: 192.168.2.1 (address of the router) Check if the mygekko is connected to the network. (Pingtest) 3. VNC 3.1 Activation VNC access By default, VNC is deactivated and it is not possible to access the mygekko. In order to access the mygekko, you have to activate VNC. There are two sharing methods, Standard and 16:9. The sharing method concerns the resolution used to transmit the image. If the standard resolution doesn t work on your device, try the 16:9 resolution. Display network settings and VNC enabling 5
3.2 VNC Viewer on PC or Mac 1. Download any free VNC of your choice from internet and install it on your PC or Mac. We suggest to use the free-of-charge VNC Viewer available on www.realvnc.com 2. Start the program and enter the IP address of your mygekko Touch under Server. 3. For a fast connection, set Options -> Very low (8 colours). 4. Press OK. You are already connected to your mygekko. Entering the mygekko IP 3.3 VNC Viewer on iphone / ipad / Android /... Setting the colour resolution 1. Download any VNC app from the App Store and install it on your smartphone or tablet PC. We suggest to use the free-of-charge version Mocha VNC. 2. Start the program and enter the IP address of your mygekko Touch under VNC Server. 3. Don t enter anything in Android, on the iphone enter # for no password. Set 5900 under port. The mygekko uses the standard VNC Port. 4. Select the 8-bit colour resolution to ensure a fast connection. 5. Press the Connect button. You are already connected to your mygekko. Notice After the activation of VNC, no further authentication is required. mygekko on iphone 6
4. mygekko Viewer on PC 1. Download the installation file from our website www.my-gekko.com. 2. Install.exe file. 3. Open the properties of mygekko Viewer file (using the right mouse button). Enter the IP address of your mygekko in the target field, as follows: C:\Programme\myGEKKOVISU\myGEKKO.exe GEKKO:xxx.xxx.x.x:5001 :5001 is a default value you must add to the IP address. 4. At this stage, open mygekko Viewer; after 10 seconds the ID number will be displayed. Send this number to sales@my-gekko.com in order to obtain the license key for software activation. 5. Once you ve got the license key, enter the following code in the properties of mygekko Viewer: C:\Programme\myGEKKOVISU\myGEKKO.exe GEKKO:xxx.xxx.x.x:5001 LIC:xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx 6. It s now possible to open mygekko Viewer and control mygekko from your own PC. 7
5. mygekko Web-App in browser mygekko is provided with an integrated web server. Through the so-called mygekko Web-App you can access your own mygekko and control it by web server. Log in as configurator. 1. Change to system settings -> Network -> mygekko Web 2. Set web as activated 3. Select the web login. The default setting is Soft. Furthermore, it s possible to set HTTP server too. As for http server, users must log in before software login 4. Enter a web user and a password 5. Once the web areas have been switched on, a further menu item with a 12 menu customized visualization will be displayed in the Web-App (for further information about the creation of visualizations, please consult Wiki) 6. By activating Web-myHome, another menu item with a customized Java-Script visualization will be displayed in the Web-App 7. Thanks to the configuration button, you can load all the current settings (lights, shutters ) in mygekko web server. 8. Restart mygekko for the settings to take effect. After restart, mygekko Web-App can be recalled from any browser (Firefox, Chrome, Safari,...). For this purpose, enter https:// and mygekko s IP address in the browser s address bar. At this point, you just have to log in entering the username and the password previously created and you ll be immediately connected to mygekko Web-App. With smartphones and tablets, it s possible to save mygekko Web-App as a link to the Homepage. 8 Configuration of Web-App on mygekko
6. Remote access via internet There are two possibilities to create a remote access via internet. The essential prerequisite is a fixed public IP address or the creation of a DynDNS account for dynamic public IP addresses. A simple but very unsafe method is the port forwarding. Another safe method is the setting of a VPN access. Ask your network engineer how to implement a VPN access or the port forwarding. Ports: VNC = 5900 Web-App = 443 (https) Caution! In case of internet access, especially if you use the port forwarding, you should change all the standard passwords of your mygekko Touch as soon as possible.! Ekon is not liable for direct or indirect damages arising from the creation of an uncorrect or unsafe network. The user activates the remote access to his local network under his own responsibility. 9
