YSU Secure Wireless Connect Guide (Part 2) Connecting to Cisco Clean Access Cisco Clean Access is a network logon system implemented in 2005 by YSU Network Services. The purpose of Clean Access is to provide a safe and secure experience for you and your PC while using services on the YSU network and on the Internet. Clean Access works through scanning your Windowsbased PC for potential computer security vulnerabilities. Potential security vulnerabilities such as missing Windows Critical Updates, lack of anti-virus software, or old anti-virus definition files will have to be resolved before using the YSU network. To begin using the YSU network, you must install the Clean Access Agent, which will be available for download after the initial connection to the YSU network has been established. The Clean Access Agent will assist you through a series of processes in order to insure that your computer is protected and ready for the Internet; this process is called remediation. The Clean Access Agent is required to use the YSU network. Leaving the agent installed on your PC will not affect other connections to Internet providers at home and through businesses. The agent simply sits inactive on your PC until you connect to a Clean Access-compatible network. Also, the agent may be uninstalled at any time. If you have uninstalled the agent, you will be prompted to reinstall again when reconnecting to the YSU network. Step 1: Open your favorite web browser Internet Explorer Mozilla Firefox Netscape 7 Step 2: Logging in to download the Clean Access Agent. Click Yes to each of the Security Alerts Enter your YSU Directory Account username and password. Click Log On * Your Directory Account ID and password is your MyYSU / WebCT logon ID and password.

Step 3: Downloading the Cisco Clean Access Agent Click on Download Clean Access Agent 3.x.x to begin the Clean Access Agent installation. Step 3.1: Downloading the Cisco Clean Access Agent (cont) Click on Run to start the installer download. Click on Run to launch the Clean Access Agent installer. * If you are running Windows 2000 or Windows XP pre-service Pack 2, you may not see the second security prompt. Step 4: Installing the Clean Access Agent When the Clean Access InstallShield window appears, follow the menus. 1. Click Next 2. Click Next 3. Click Install 4. Click Finish

Step 5: Logging in to the Clean Access System Type in your YSU Directory Account username and password. Click Login Note: Agent Upgrade Installation Approximately every 2 months, Cisco releases an update to their Clean Access Agent. If you receive this notice, please click OK and follow the instructions beginning from Step 4. Step 5.1: Logging in to the Clean Access System (cont) Click Yes when the Security Alert dialog appears. Step 5.2: Logging in to the Clean Access System (cont) If your computer has met the requirements of the Clean Access system, you will see this window. If you see this window, click OK and proceed to Step 7 *If you DO NOT see this window, move on to Step 6.

Step 6: Cisco Clean Access remediation process If your computer has not met the requirements of the Clean Access System, you will encounter the following dialog box Click Continue to enter the remediation process. Step 6.1: Cisco Clean Access Remediation Process (cont) The remediation process will notify the user of potential vulnerabilities based on its security assessment. In this case, the computer requires an updated version of anti-virus definitions. Simply click Update to download the latest anti-virus definition files. Click OK when the updates have been successfully installed. * If you are repeating this stage more than twice in one logon session, your anti-virus subscription may have expired or your anti-virus software may not be operating properly. Please see the YSU Tech Desk on the 4 th floor of Maag Library for support with this issue. Updates may take between 1-5 minutes based on how many updates are needed. If your PC requires Windows Updates, the wait may be as short as 2 minutes or as long as 30 minutes. Click Next when the remediation process has successfully downloaded all the necessary updates. Click OK when remediation attempts are successful. Step 7: Open your favorite web browser * If your web browser is already open, please close and relaunch it.
