Sign into the LMS 1. Open Internet Explorer and launch the LMS by typing http://citizenstraining.com in the address bar. 2. Select Citizens LMS. 3. Sign in. Note: You will receive two emails from Citizens. One will have your LMS user ID and the other one will contain your temporary password. Be sure to sign in within 24 hours and set your password and security questions. Citizens Property Insurance Corporation 5/4/2016 3
4. Your assignments are displayed in the My Learning Assignments panel. Select the Start Course button to begin. 5. The following screen launches the online module. It must be left open while the module is running. Once you begin a module, the module s title will move from your Learning Plan list to your Completed Work list in the LMS. Do not block pop-ups. Troubleshooting Required Software You must use the software listed below. Citizens does not support Apple products nor browsers such as Chrome, Firefox, Safari, etc. Required Software Windows on a laptop or desktop Supported Version n/a Internet Explorer (See page 5 for instructions for how to set up IE so the courses and assessments display properly.) Java Between 7.0 and 11.0 (See page 4 for how to check the version.) 1.6 and above (See page 9 for how to set up Java so the courses and assessments display properly.) Flash Adobe Reader 10.0.0 and above 9.0 and above Mobile devices are not supported Citizens does not provide support for mobile devices such as smart phones and tablets (ipad, Nexus, Kindle Fire, etc.). Using the Check System Tool Use the built-in system check once you log into the LMS. This check will inform you if the computer has all of the necessary components installed (Internet Explorer, Java, Flash Player, etc.). It is in the upper right-hand corner of the screen just under the username and also in the Easy Links panel. 1. Select one of the Check System links. 2. A green check mark displays when your computer meets the minimum system requirements and will alert you when any of these items needs updating. Important Note: The software check results screen displays a list of supported browsers, however, Internet Explorer is the ONLY browser for which we can offer support. 3. Checking the Internet Explorer Browser Version To determine what version of Internet Explorer (IE) is being used, once you open Internet Explorer, click the gear icon on the top right-hand corner of the page. Select About Internet Explorer to display the version. IE 8 Browser Compatibility If you see the Broken Pages icon in the address bar, you can select it to automatically show the website in Compatibility View each time you visit. You can turn it off by clicking the icon again. Note: If the button does not appear, there is no need to turn on Compatibility View. Citizens Property Insurance Corporation 5/4/2016 7
How to Set Up Internet Explorer Once you have determined you are using a supported version of Internet Explorer, follow the steps below. (See page 7 for directions on how to determine the IE version.) 1. Open Internet Explorer. Select the Tools menu. Select Internet Options. 2. Disable Pop-Up Blockers Select the Privacy tab Uncheck Turn on Pop-up Blocker Citizens Property Insurance Corporation 5/4/2016 8
From the Security tab, click Custom Level. Navigate about ¾ way down the list and click Disable under Use Pop-up Blocker. Citizens Property Insurance Corporation 5/4/2016 9
3. Add Trusted Sites Select the Security tab Click the green Trusted Sites check mark. 4. Clear Browser History Select the General tab. Click the Delete button. Ensure the top 4 options are checked and click the Delete button. 5. If available, click the Apply button on the Internet Options window and then click OK to close Internet Options. 6. Close all open Internet Explorer windows and proceed with setting up Java (steps shown on next page). How to Set Up Java 1. Open the Java Control Panel. To do this, go to the Windows Start menu, click Control Panel. 2. Select Java. Citizens Property Insurance Corporation 5/4/2016 12
3. Clear Java Cache: a. From the General tab, click the Settings button under Temporary Internet Files. b. Click the Delete Files button. c. Ensure the following checkboxes are checked: i. 4. Add Sites to the Exception Site List: Click the Security tab. Click the Edit Site List button. 5. Click the Add button and type in the four sites listed below as they appear. http://citizenstraining.com http://citizenstraining.com:8080 http://www.citizenstraining.com https://citizens.plateau.com 6. Click OK when you have finished add the sites. 7. Click Apply and then click OK to close the Java Control Panel. 8. Access the LMS again by following the steps on page 3. 9.
