Laptop Modem Assorted files 5 PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES (list all your areas of responsibilities and write down the activities involved in each key area, should be comprehensive and exhaustive) KEY AREA Leadership & Management Coordination Development Partnership & Networking Reporting & Documentation Communication Capacity Building Activity Develop and implement security policies and guidelines to continuously improve and refine security management in the organization in line with Corporate Policy and other guidelines that may be issued from time to time. Develop, implement, properly document and maintain an AMREF security Risk Management System. Carry out regular security audits and surveys. EXTENT OF DISCRETION (full, partial or none) Operationalize the security strategy. Review security processes, procedures, contingency plans and control in compliance with the set rules and regulations. Maintain close collaboration with other security agencies and stakeholders. Manage the incident reporting process to track trends and develop effective responses. Conduct regular field security assessments of all facilities run by AMREF Kenya. Provide technical security advice for potential new office sites including site selection and physical and procedural security measures. Maintain knowledge of complex industry trends, current security issues and security technology and update management on risk and threat that could impact AMREF business. Preparation of weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual and ad hoc reports relating to security as per requirement. Draft security advisories to advise all personnel on the general security situation and specific incidents and heightened threat periods and provide advice on risk mitigation. Maintain and periodically test the Bulk SMS, telephone tree and other emergency communications systems. Ensure that the appropriate level of training is provided for all staff on various risks and disasters e.g. fire, bomb etc and use of technical equipment and routine security duties in line with Foundations policies. FILES COMPUTERS, PRINTERS, SAFE, MODEM, VEHICLE ETC) o Lead continuous quality improvement initiatives in the department o Take up any other responsibilities as appropriately assigned. 7 REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 7.1 Minimum Education - (academic and professional as per AMREF Policy Bachelor s Degree in Peace & Studies or its equivalent 7.2 Experience (number of years as per AMREF Policy) Five years of relevant work experience in a similar role preferably in an NGO environment. 7.3 Skills Proficiency in ICT. Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity. Strong analytical (tactical & strategic), organizational and problem solving skills. No criminal record and with a valid certificate of good conduct. 7.4 Competencies Experience in developing and clearly documenting security and disaster management plans. Must be conversant with the Humanitarian Principles that anchor acceptance as a security management model for NGO s Must be trained and experienced in the configuration, installation, basic maintenance and training staff on field communication technologies including UHF/VHF, CODAN and other Experience in writing and implementing security policies and procedures. Knowledge in criminal investigations and litigation procedures. Demonstrate working experience with electronic alarms, access control systems, CCTVs and other technology based security systems. Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to establish strong working relationships with security agency personnel and project stakeholders. 9.1.2 EXTERNAL: 9.2 WRITTEN: 9.2.1 INTERNAL: 9.2.2 EXTERNAL: 10 ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS 10.1 Corporate Policies, Systems, Procedures and Methods The job demands a thorough understanding of all AMREF s Policies and Procedures - HR, Finance, Procurement, Transport, Per Diem, Communications, Asset and Disposal, ICT, etc. 10.2 Work Environment Normal office environment. 10.3 Hours of Work 38 hours per week, Monday to Thursday official working hours from 8.00am to 5.00pm with one (1) hour lunch break from 1pm to 2pm. Friday official working hours from 8.00am to 2.00pm.
