However, these can not be shared. Functions are not available in the current WebCDM release. 3.2 Download to Excel 1. The download process is different from CDM. WebCDM always generate the download data as a new Excel file. You will be prompted whether you want to save the file and open it directly. WebCDM will generate a default filename but you can always override it when you save. Web CDM Reference Guide v1.2 Page 23 of 26
2. For those downloads done through WebCDM, there is no CDM Links to refresh or reload data. (Due to WebCDM is a web application and has no direct connection with Excel, unlike the CDM) 3. As an alternative, WebCDM has the option to create a new workspace with the selected series while you download them. You can reload the data by going to My CDM, select the workspace created during the download, and perform a Download to Excel again. Web CDM Reference Guide v1.2 Page 24 of 26
3.3 Use Downloaded Series as Raw Data Instead of applying formatting or calculations directly to your downloaded data file, use as a master data file only. Link (feature in Excel) the data from a secondary file (working files) and when you download again (and overwrite the master file), the secondary file will be updated automatically. Here is how it works: 1. In WebCDM select the series you want to download 2. Use Download to Excel to download the series data. On the download setting prompt, also enter a new workspace name to save your selection to (This is a new feature in WebCDM). When you proceed to download, you will be asked to open or save the download file, save it and it will become your master file. (Note that in WebCDM, the download function will always generate the data to a new Excel file whereas in CDM, it can download data to a new sheet.) 3. From your working files, create links to cells in the master file MUST use Paste Special, Paste Link 4. To update your series data, go to your saved workspace in WebCDM, download to the series, save and override your master file that sits locally on your machine 5. And next time you open your working files that have links to the master file, you will be prompted whether to update your linked data. Choosing to do so will refresh the data in your working files. 3.4 Create Chart The chart being generated is an image only so there are no graph manipulation functionalities. You will still be able to copy or save (using Download Chart) the chart as an image. 3.4.1 Copy Chart (For Firefox, Chrome & Safari Users) The Copy Chart button in Chart Manager does not work in Firefox due to technical limitation. To copy the chart in Chart Manager, follow the instructions below: 1. Right-click on your mouse while it is over the chart image, a popup menu will be shown. 2. Click on Copy Image to copy the chart image 3. Paste it to your target document Web CDM Reference Guide v1.2 Page 25 of 26
