As membership of IDAN is selective, it will set you apart from other interior designers, decorators and trade people in Nigeria. 2. Currently there is a non-consideration of interior design as a discipline and the industry lacks educational standards. IDAN is networking with top interior design schools internationally to provide training, organize workshops, seminars. According to the International Federation of Interior designers (IFI), the professional interior designer is a person qualified by education, experience and recognized by skills, who: identifies, researches and creatively solves problems pertaining to the function and quality of the interior environment performs services relative to interior spaces including programming, design analysis, space planning, aesthetics and inspection of work on site, using specialized knowledge of interior construction, building systems and components, building regulations, equipment, materials and furnishing Prepares drawings and documents relative to the design of interior spaces, in order to enhance the quality of life and protect the health, safety and welfare of the public The Association defines interior designers as persons qualified by training and experience to plan the design and execution of interior projects and their furnishings, and to organise the various arts and crafts essential to their completion. There are various levels of Designer membership Members A minimum of 6 years' experience in full time employment in the field of interior design. Entry is by invitation Members are entitled to use the suffix "IDAN" or "Member, IDAN" Associate members Requirements for Associate members are either: a three year degree or one year diploma in interior design, or a minimum of one year's full time employment in the field of interior design without any formal qualifications, associate membership may be granted after submission of the application.
