LET S REDUCE OUR FOOD WASTE! Starting in 2015, food scraps will no longer be permitted in the garbage you will need to recycle them with your Green Cart or through backyard composting. Compostable materials like foods scraps and yard trimmings still make up about 43% of the waste going to landfills from singlefamily homes and townhomes. These organic materials should not go in the garbage. Please put them in your Green Cart or backyard compost bin so they can be recycled into compost for nutrient-rich soil used in home gardens, by landscaping companies and in the farming industry. For details on how to use your Green Cart, see the Food Scraps & Yard Trimmings Recycling tab in your calendar. EASY TIPS TO REDUCE FOOD WASTE There are lots of great ways to reduce your food waste.
