ABOUT EVENTARC Eventarc is an online event registration and ticketing startup based in Melbourne, Australia. Eventarc combines an innovative and visually based interface with a key focus on fundraising events, with plans to become the leading event registration provider in the not-for-profit market. The interface Eventarc have built is radically different from any existing competitors in the current market. It is a flexible, yet powerful approach to building an event registration page that makes the process simple enough for anyone to use. Eventarc is available for anyone to use, but includes a feature set which is geared towards fundraising events. The features include integrated donations and merchandise modules, as well as a full sponsorship profile section which allows participants to raise extra funds from their family and friends. More fundraising specific features are planned for 2010. Launched in September 2009, Eventarc is the provider of choice for nationally based fundraising events such as the Mother s Day Classic (the biggest fundraiser for breast cancer research in Australia), as well as for smaller events including training days, movie previews and luncheons. THE FOUNDERS Scott Handsaker Scott Handsaker graduated from University in 1999, immediately entering the IT industry in a technical support role. In 2000 he moved to Singapore to set up and run an ISP help desk for Singtel, and in 2002 set up and managed an Asia Pacific Call Centre for Hewlett Packard in Malaysia. In 2004 he co-founded a website development firm, and since then has served as the managing director and business development manager. In 2007 he co-founded what eventually turned into Eventarc, launching the self-service product in September 2009. He lives in Melbourne with his partner Alice and his son Otis, and hopes you like Eventarc enough to tell all your friends about it. Outside of work Andrew enjoys baseball, music and playing with his 2 year old son. Most of Andrew s time in the office is spent petitioning colleagues to un-ban Tom Waits from the stereo. SO WHAT CAN YOU DO WITH EVENTARC? The information below is just a small snapshot of some of the key features that Eventarc offers. More information is available at www.eventarc.com. Event Information Eventarc allows you to add all the critical details to an event registration page. Simple stuff, but still pretty important to get right. Customers can set a date and time for their event, as well as an exact time for when online ticket sales close. Eventarc automatically closes off sales at the requested time, displaying a unique customer message instead. Event details can be amended at anytime, even after ticket sales have already commenced. Ticket Types and Prices Simple or complex ticketing requirements, we ve got it covered. Customers can add the name of the ticket, some supporting text, the total volume available and then the price. Many events have multiple ticket types (child, adult, concession, etc), and Eventarc has been built to handle them all. For added sophistication, customers can add an early bird price that automatically rolls over onto normal pricing on the specified date. Great for encouraging people to register early! The number of tickets that can be purchased in a single transaction can also be restricted. Custom Fields Some event registration packages only allow users to capture a generic set of information, which makes it tough if an event has unique requirements. Eventarc allows any number of custom fields to be added to the event registration page. If a user needs to know whether their attendees want chicken, beef or tofu, they can just add a custom field and Eventarc handles the rest. All fields that they make available to their ticket buyers are included in their event exports. 03
SO WHAT CAN YOU DO WITH EVENTARC? (continued) Merchandise Eventarc makes it easy to sell merchandise at the same time as the tickets. Users can add any number of merchandise items and set individual stock volumes, prices and sizes. An image can be uploaded for each item, and Eventarc automatically adds an entire store to the event registration page. Eventarc handles volumes automatically, so once all items have been sold, the product will be listed as sold out. This a critical feature for those users who are trying to raise money, as merchandise sales can contribute up to 30% of the revenue for an event. Donations Perfect for not-for-profits, charities and community groups, the donations module allows ticket buyers to donate extra money at the point of purchase. A tax receipt with all the relevant details is automatically added to the ticket receipt, so customers don t need to worry about any paperwork. Sponsorship Pages If event participants are raising money as part of their registration, then the Eventarc sponsorship module is the perfect addition. Integrated with the event registration, this module allows participants to create their own sponsorship page. Participants can then add an image and supportive text, and then their entire network of friends and family can sponsor them online. All money goes directly into the event organisers account, and donation receipts are sent out automatically via email. 04

FUN FACTS The first build of Eventarc commenced in April 2007, and the first manual version was used by a paying client in Feb 2008. The self-service beta version launched in September 2009, with the paid version following shortly after in November 2009 When they initially set out to build Eventarc, the founders proudly told a tech journalist that they would launch something within 8 weeks. It took 10 months. Scott Handsaker once ran for state parliament, but only gained 10.8% of the primary vote. Sadly that was not enough for him to win the seat. Eventarc is built using Adobe Flex. There are five full time employees at Eventarc (2 founders, 1 designer and 2 developers) One of the staff members is a vegan, and is not sure the office move to the Docklands in Melbourne was such a good idea. Lunchtime options are limiting! Two of the Eventarc staff are musicians that have had reasonable commercial success. Only one of them has sold out to the man. One of the Eventarc staff is an artist who will draw you a pretty mean street scape if you pay him enough. One of the founders of Eventarc still proudly owns a gaffa tape t-shirt from his teenage years. He has not yet worn it to work. Whenever possible, Eventarc staff choose to buy their drinks from the Pre-mix King. Eventarc operates on a rapid build, test and release cycle. We are capable of releasing to the live server daily if we can pump out the new features fast enough. Eventarc technical releases all have names related to Pixies songs and albums. The next one is called Pilgrim. 06
