CBM UK s Fundraising & Communications Department Our Fundraising & Communications Department is a dynamic team of 12 dedicated to maximising funds available for our life-changing programmes and increasing the impact of CBM. Our fundraising streams currently include direct marketing, community fundraising, legacies, major individual donors, corporate partnerships, trusts and foundations, as well as statutory partnerships. Our 80,000 inspirational UK supporters give around 6 million annually and we have clear and ambitious plans for growth. The Supporter Growth Team Sitting within the Fundraising & Communications department, the Supporter Growth team is responsible for recruiting, developing and retaining supporters to raise funds via multiple channels, including direct mail, telephone, digital and through the wider community.

Reports to: Head of Supporter Growth Purpose: To deliver regular direct marketing communications to recruit and engage CBM supporters. This is an excellent and exciting opportunity for those interested in working in direct marketing or looking to advance their knowledge within the charity and international development sector. Salary band: 2 ( 21,420 to 24,830) Specific outcomes required The Direct Marketing Officer will: deliver regular and inspiring segmented direct marketing and email campaigns on time, to agreed specification and within budget collect data for all campaigns to allow performance analysis so we can continue to get better at what we do develop excellent working relationships with existing and new agencies and suppliers ensure the best donor experience in terms of thanking and promoting loyalty to CBM Key responsibilities The Direct Marketing Officer is a crucial role, based within the Supporter Growth team, implementing a significant fundraising programme for CBM UK to over 80,000 supporters 1. Direct marketing activity (75%) This role aims to delight our donors and inspire new supporters. The person in post will: a. Implement agreed activities to deliver a comprehensive recruitment, welcome, stewardship and retention programme, aiming to maximise unrestricted net income. b. Prepare regular supporter acquisition and cultivation communications across multiple channels, including direct mail, telephone and email. The role will help to create extraordinary and wonderful moments in our supporters lives c. Work with agencies/ suppliers (including writers, designers, print and mail) and identify opportunities for cost saving and/or quality improvement. Source new agencies as appropriate. d. Ensure processes are delivered on time and in the most cost effective manner. Ensure finished communications match the criteria for maximum discounts (e.g. postal charges). Adhere to legislation and good practice. e. Ensure direct marketing communications have a distinct Christian content, working with the Supporter Growth team or by liaising with volunteers to source Scripture and produce a regular Prayer Diary.

f. Work with colleagues to cross-sell fundraising programmes, for example in community, legacy, in memoriam, major donor and corporate fundraising. Work with the Senior Direct Marketing Officer on motivating and upgrading our cash supporters into Regular Giving and High Giving segments. g. Keep a clear and assessable audit trial and reference system, including purchase orders, securely retaining all artwork and supplying this also for electronic campaigns and for the CBM archive. h. Become fully familiar with the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system and assist the Senior Data Officer in selecting data, running reports and updating records. 2. Planning, reporting, budgets (15%) a. Ensure appropriate recording of direct marketing activity through the CRM system where possible or by standard spread-sheets or files. b. Collect data in an agreed form for all direct marketing campaigns to aid analysis. 3. Communications and networking (10%) a. Internal i. Prepare internal marketing materials for CBM UK colleagues and brief the Supporter Care team ahead of each campaign. ii. Develop and maintain knowledge of CBM UK s work, current objectives and future plans in order to match donor interests effectively and facilitate appropriate and timely communications. iii. Work with other teams, including CBM International, to maximise cross-fertilisation opportunities and integrated working. b. External i. Maintain an awareness and anticipation of charity sector trends relating to direct marketing to enable CBM to respond and adapt quickly where appropriate. ii. Be an excellent advocate for CBM, delivering communications in line with the vision and values of the charity. 4. Culture a. Help develop a culture of enthusiasm and success which reflects the ambitions of CBM UK. b. Play an active role across the CBM UK team, promoting positive working and innovation. Seek to improve working practice at all opportunities. Ensure that the values of the CBM UK brand are understood by external partners and always reflected in communications. 5. Other a. In the event of a humanitarian crisis, contribute to developing direct marketing emergency appeals at short notice. b. Occasional travel throughout the UK, including out of normal office working hours. c. Carry out any other duties as required by the Head of Supporter Growth and Director of Fundraising & Communications.
