Introduction to Girlguiding We are the largest voluntary youth organisation in the UK, with more than half of the female population involved in guiding at some point in their lives. We are dedicated to enabling girls and young women to develop their potential and to make a difference in the world. Through a range of exciting activities and challenges chosen by the girls, we provide opportunities for our members to gain self-confidence and self-esteem within a safe, female-only space, enabling girls and young women to develop their potential and to make a difference to the world. In 2013, Girlguiding had more than half a million members including both girls and adults. Guiding is independently operated through three Countries, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland and six English Regions, North West England, North East England, Midlands, Anglia, South West England and London and South East England, each having their own headquarters employing a core administrative staff. Introduction to Girlguiding Midlands Girlguiding Midlands consists of 11 Counties from across the Midlands Region and has a membership in excess of 73,000. Mrs Sally Illsley, the Region Chief Commissioner, leads the Region. The Headquarters is based in its own property in Ashby de la Zouch, Leicestershire where five staff members are currently employed.
The role of Growing Guiding Administrator Girlguiding Midlands is recruiting a Growing Guiding Administrator reporting to Growing Guiding Officer and the Region Manager. The Growing Guiding Administrator will be required to support the Growing Guiding Officer to grow Girlguiding across the Midlands Region whilst being the first point of contact for and to manage enquiries with respect to the National Recruitment Software System (Join Us). He or she will also be required to keep records up to date and run necessary reports from the system to ensure volunteers are informed on their areas progress in relation to recruitment of new adult and girl members as well as provide general administrative support to the team. The post holder must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel, and excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to prioritise their workload. He or she must have the ability to build positive relationships with all stakeholders and to work with and relate to people at all levels. Terms & Conditions Contract Type This is a fixed term contract for 12 months on a full-time basis. Location The position will be based at Girlguiding Midlands Headquarters, 21 Lower Church Street, Ashby de la Zouch, Leicestershire LE65 1AB. The post may include travel around the UK and will include evening and weekend work. Salary/Rate The salary for this role is 16,000 per annum. Working Hours The core hours of this post are 35 hours per week which will include 2 evenings per week and some weekend work. Probationary Period The post will be subject to a probationary period of 12 weeks. Holidays 21 days paid holiday per annum plus relevant bank holidays. Notice Period During probationary period, the period of notice required is one week by either party and will be subject to four weeks notice thereafter.
