Portugal Wine Festival detour to Douro The Dijon International and Gastronomic Fair an annual event since 1921 shines the spotlight every year on new wines and promotes a guest country. The 2014 Fair will receive Portugal as the Guest of Honour. This year, for the second time, it has narrowed its focus by including the wine-growing regions of Portugal the Guest of Honour of the Fair. The 2014 Vinidivio s highlight will showcase a selection of top wines representative of the Douro and Porto at the Fair s OEnotheque. France ranks fourth as a destination for Portuguese tourists in Europe and is one of the top ten export markets for Douro and Porto wines. Dijon, capital of Burgundy, a city of art and history, opens its doors to the legendary climats vineyards of Burgundy and the extraordinay vineyards of the Côte-de-Nuits and Côte-de- Beaune, and of course the Beaujolais. The tourisme Office of Portugal in Paris is involved to promote this country, as well as promoting the Porto and Douro wine region. It is a fabulous wine tourist area and a precious economic resource. The Portugal Cultural Pavilion will promote the country s best gastronomic assets with its restaurant and it will show Portugal s arts and crafts, culture and tourist infrastructure. Portuguese artistic groups (singers, dancers, music ) will be part of the Pavilion s activities for the duration of the Fair. Each year, the Fair receives between 180 000 to 200 000 visitors, mainly from a northeastern France but also from as far south as Lyon, including guests from neighbouring Switzerland and Belgium.

Encounter with an historical Vineyards A wonderful tasting place The wine tasting room Dijon Congrexpo will organise the layout and decoration of the wine tasting room, with a presentation of all the estates represented (30 estates and wine routes, comprising in total around 200 different products). A team of sommeliers (speaking both English and French) on loan by DIJON CONGREXPO will be there to advise and assist estate representatives and visitors. A specific area will be set up for wine tasting Master classes, screening videos on wine-growing and vineyards estates. The Wine Routes and estates will be free to set up their own presentations (DIJON CONGREXPO will provide a sommelier translator if necessary). One day will be dedicated to wine business - trade day Wine importers, retailers, cellars, specialised wine bars, regional and national buyers will be invited on Monday 3 November, to focus on the economics of wine. A photo exhibition on Wines and Vines will also be presented through the camera of a French photographer, Philippe Maupetit. Visitors will pay an admission fee to enter the oenothèque. This will cover the cost of a wine tasting glass, tasting booklet and bag.

Competition and wine events The president of judge, Mr Eric Goettelmann The Wine Competition Experts tasting Burgundy and specialists who are members of the jury will aim through labels awarded to Dijon, to provide a guarantee of high quality impartial analysis criteria sensory response to the recognized regional sensitivity in the middle of the wine world. Mr Goettelmann, one of the international judges at the Old Mutual Trophy Award organised by Mr Michael Fridjhon in South Africa May 2013, is the President of Judge of VINIDIVIO Competition. Eric Goettelmann is the Executive chief sommelier from Bernard Loiseau, a three star Michelin restaurant in Burgundy. The judging panel will comprise recognised burgundian sommeliers, representatives of the burgundian wine industry and regional and national wine journalists. Around a traditional Burgundian dinner, guests will share in the exchange of a wide range of their respective best wines. This function is open to professional people from the wine industry: domaines, wine buyers, wine shops, restaurants and journalists.

Some major events programme Traditional Portuguese Culinary Master classes by a Portuguese Chef at the renowned Table de Luculus, les rencontres gourmandes with the participation of visitors. Conference In partnership with the UNESCO chair Culture and traditions of wine from Dijon, famous Portuguese wine experts will host three conferences which will address themes specific to the public. Restaurant des Saveurs will propose to host for one day a Portuguese celebrity chef Restaurant des Saveurs host a great Michelin-starred chef every day. One day will be dedicated to a great Portuguese chef with traditional Portuguese cuisine and wines (wines of the Portuguese exhibitors). [BEING CONFIRMED] And to conclude The dinner at the Chapitre du Goût et de la Gastronomie at the Château du Clos de Vougeot on Saturday 8 November 2014. Official national and provincial delegations from Portugal and Burgundy, as well as the coordinators of the Pavilion of Honour and the wine estates participating representative in the Fair, will be invited for this prestigious dinner. A portfolio compiled by the Burgundian Photographer Philippe Maupetit will illustrate the visual wealth of the region. Wineries of all participants will be represented and major events of the fair will be announced. Articles will present gastronomy and Chefs, life style, etc Destined for completion by the end of July, the Review (96 pages, bilingual French - Portuguese) will be unveiled during the press trip in August. The Review will be present at the Fair, at the Pavilion of Honour and at the Oenotheque as well as in book stores in Dijon and relevant shops and outlets (tourism offices, etc ). It could also be distributed in the Country of Honour by partners (CGFP, Portugal Embassy, Douro wine estates, Porto Wine routes,...). Communication and marketing conducted by DIJON CONGREXPO will cover local and regional newspaper, radio, regional TV as well as specialised media on the national level (wine and gastronomy, tourism, life style ) and wine retailing professionals (cellars, traders, importers). A partnership with the Country of Honour will provide communication in the country through its specialised media. Provision has been made to receive Portuguese journalists at the Fair. A Press Trip to the Country of Honour with French journalists is scheduled for the end of August 2014.

Awards and medals ceremony during the evening. TUESDAY 4 NOVEMBER 2014 Privately organised by the Burgundian Wine Merchants are inviting participating producers to Beaune for cellar visits, wine tasting and diner (TBC).
